Hi bernardil, I don\'t want to veer too much from the original poster\'s subject, but I was wondering, as a physician, how you view the likelihood and importance of complications associated with PMMA, and in particular foreign body granulomas. Best, and good luck,Skatezy |

I would agree with Bighat. As a physician who does cosmetic surgery in the US, I can tell you that the general consensus is \"permanent filler= bad, temporary filler = great!\" Part of this is because as you age, at least in the face, there are changes that occur around the filler such that you may not want something permanent lodged against something that is changing. It may not look as good in 15-20 years as it does when the face is much fuller and more elastic. Also, if the patient doesn\'t like the filler, it\'ll go away in 6-18 months depending on the filler used. For some general plastic surgeons, temporary fillers and botox have become the bread and butter of the practice. I\'m not a general plastic surgeon but I\'ve had ladies come in a spend $3-4000 every 6 months on their botox and filler indefinitely. And that takes 20-30 minutes. They leave happy and can be playing tennis in a few days feeling great. My point in telling you this is, in medicine whatever way a certain physician does something is always the best way and he/she will have a million reasons to sway you against something he doesn\'t do or doesn\'t agree with. Do you own research, ask questions and don\'t just trust that one way is necessarily the only way. If the people you\'re talking to don\'t use PMMA for FDA approval or preference reasons, they\'re going to tell you not to do PMMA. In the US, we don\'t really use PMMA much. If you ask the average doc in the US, he\'s going to want you to do juviderm, restylane, radiesse, etc and come back in 6 months and do it again. PMMA is mentioned as permanent in some articles and semi-perm in other articles. Given the fact that its basically an acrylic and its also used in orthopedics to cement bone, I would venture to say its at the very least semi-permanent but on the order of decades vs a few years or permanent. Again, I don\'t use it at all so this is just my opinion based on knowledge of the physiology and characteristics/chemical makeup of the PMMA. But its good that you\'re going into any procedure with reserve and questions. The procedure will be available whether you do it now or 2 years from now. |

Radiesse has been used extensively by those undergoing wasting because of HIV. In fact, they are turning now to PMMA, which seems to be a better option. |

Mustang, Radiesse has been discussed by forum members quite in detail here:

For your consideration; This is one of the latest fillers for the aging face, mostly used by women. Can it be used for the penis? I do not see why not, it is not plastic so there should be no bad side effects...Of course it can be absorbed in a year or so...Here is a quote form their site: \"Ideal wrinkle reduction is achieved by replenishing your skin\'s lost volume. Upon injection, RADIESSE' Volumizing Filler immediately provides the volume and lift needed to diminish the signs of aging because of the calcium-based microspheres and gel that comprise the product. But what\'s unique about RADIESSE Volumizing Filler is that it acts as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. This process continues for several months, which extends the initial effect of RADIESSE Volumizing Filler. Best of all, the natural results are clinically proven to last a year or more in many patients, which is why more and more cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists, and other medical professionals are choosing RADIESSE Volumizing Filler to achieve long-lasting facial rejuvenation.\" |

Got this from Wade today: We have put the \"Lipen D\" procedure to the side for now, and do not see anything changing in the near future. As you know Radiesse offers minimal results at best, and we are not willing to use this product for this procedure at this time. |

Yeah from reading previous pages of this thread it has been said that Lipen-D lasts over 2 years and seems to be a more successful temporary filler overall for phalloplasty than Radiesse. Decisions, decisions... |

I\'ll be in TJ very soon to get a girth touch-up and got some info on the new glans procedure: We are currently working on the registration of Lipen-D in Mexico, which can take over one year to complete. Lipen-D is comprised of micro-spheres of dextran suspended in carboximethylcelulose, and Radiesse is comprised of micro-spheres of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in carboxymethylcelulose. We know from the manufacturer that CaHA lasts for 18 months in the face, and we expect that the glans will last just as long or longer. We will be using 6 boxes of Radiesse, (9cc), at a cost of $500 per box, totaling $3,000 as an introductory price for this procedure. |

I have asked Lemperle\'s opinion about Dr. A.El-seweifi\'s Artecoll injection results :- \"You are correct ! He either used another product (Radiesse or Sculptra) or went too deep into the spongious tissue... We all know that dermal fat grafts will be absorbed over time...otherwise, we ALL WOULD DO IT ! \"- I know some people wouldn\'t agree with Lemperle but I just want you to know all the information I get . I have also sent an e-mail to Dr.Samy Passy in Rio. about the Korean paper and also about the doctor in Berlin , I just want to know his opinion too. I would like to know what is Dr.C.\'s opinion about these informations (in Korea and in Berlin) ---> no serious complication ??? Did he ever try it ? Did he inject e.g. a very small amount of Newplastic in a small area of the corona??? |

Interesting article / study So basically PMMA doesn\'t seem to migrate but they are concerned with the purity of the one being produced in Brazil? Anyways found a good article on PMMA talking about it\'s treatment in HIV patients( sorry if already been posted ) And also talks about treatment for complications. I am now leaning more on PMMA www.thebodypro.com/content/art59874.html?getPage=1 |

Didn\'t someone get Radiesse and post about it making their penis feel like putty? Category: Injectable Filler Database |

Another member of this board spoke to Dr C\'s office yesterday about Radiesse. They told him that whilst they do use it in the face they would not recommend it\'s use in the penis. According to them the carrier is thicker and would be likely to form lumps. Secondly it\'s not possible to use a micro cannula, which is essential. He also asked about Artefill. They said they can do this, but in their opinion is a waste of money since the results would be indentical to Newplastic. Category: Injectable Filler Database |

@biggerbob - I understand bro. Hang in there and don\'t let the doctors get you down. Be patient and the right option for you will turn up. Category: Injectable Filler Database |

@eq The main reason I find a lot of these doctors hypocritical is that they have no problem doing any of these procedures on women. They will put Radiesse in the face, breasts, etc... Plus most of them do a whole bunch of other procedures. Same risk with malpractice. Same waivers. When it comes to PE though, we are treated way differently. I get a lot of \"you have to live with what you got\" or the offer of counciling. WTF, I just want to make my dick bigger. It is apparently okay for my wife to get a boob job, tummy tuck and a face lift and is an accepted practice, but I must be crazy to try and find a way to enhance my dick. As you can probably tell, it pisses me off. Anyhow, I am going to abandon the pursuit of Radiesse for now unless someone else comes up with new info. As long as the PMMA continues to pan out for our group, a temp filler really isn\'t practical. Category: Injectable Filler Database |

@biggerbob -Not sure why you think the docs are hypocritical, you know what the malpractice situation is in the US. I am sure you can find someone to inject you with filler if you agree to sign a complete indemnification/waiver with your attorney and a 3rd party arbitrator present!
