TOPIC: Last minute advice...

Last minute advice... 3 years 11 months ago #1308700898

I'm about to book for 12/16. I know people here stopped alcohol consumption up to 30 days prior to their procedure. I haven't done this, are there any concerns with stopping drinking 5 days prior to the procedure? Do you see any concerns with affecting collagen production? Is it smarter to just wait and make sure?

Alcohol could effect your gains, yes.

I mean collagen production doesn't start for 2 weeks after so that means I would be 3 weeks without alcohol at that point. You think it still makes sense to give myself time prior as well?

The collagen production starts immediately once the filler is put in. Yes, drinking effects collagen production. Drinking days before a procedure isn’t a good idea. You damage collagen when you drink so the more you drink beforehand the more your damaging existing collagen in your body.

I don’t know how much it will effect you. There are no studies on alcohol and fillers involving neocollagenesis only studies with alcohol and collagen production. It depends on how much you are drinking and what you are drinking.

I just went through a break up so I was drinking pretty bad. Vodka. This next week would’ve been perfect but maybe I should wait a month. That said I’m in good shape and on TRT as well. I’d hate to affect my results though by rushing it...

It’s just one of those things man. I miss drinking but there was no way I was going to risk below average gains. If there was concrete science saying “here is exactly how much you can drink and it won’t effect your outcome” that’d be great but there is no such thing. Plus, I’ve gained so many other health benefits by not getting hammered on whiskey every weekend.

What procedure are you having done?

Dr Morales said she wouldn’t be concerned about it. They advise not to drink the day of and up to a week after. I booked it. I’m nervous. I’m going to load up on supplements over the next 5 days. I’m booked on Wednesday.

I’m doing PMMA

Right, she’s basing that off guidelines for recovery not for collagen growth.

Avoid supplements that thin blood.

I feel nervous that I rushed this after talking to you. How long would you have recommended waiting?

I’ve read your thread, well I’ve read every thread on here and 2.0 but can you remind me how much you gained?

Hyperbol, I'm not sure what you're basing your claim that alcohol impedes collages production, but I have found absolutely no studies shown to back that claim. Reading through posts from actual doctors online, such as on realself, suggest that alcohol has no impact on collagen production from fillers. I would stop spreading that as fact when you are just basing it on a gut feeling.

If a doctor says you are fine to drink alcohol, I would listen to them.

Tough to say how much I’ve gained. I’m 7inch BPEL. I have one more week before the end of the 12 week Ellanse curve and it could still grow a month after that. I think some guys on here are reporting their mseg gains without acknowledging low spots that may or may not have documented before hand. I gained .6 mid shaft or just above mid shaft from 11 cc of Ellanse. This is 11cc below the circ scar. I got 12cc but I’m not counting that 1cc in my inner skin when calculating how much I’ll get in round two or how much I’ve gained in the shaft. I have a lower spot below the .6 gain that’s about .1 or so lower but was it always lower? I didnt really do a good job of measuring that part of my shaft and it could be that it got a little thinner towards that area this whole time. I have a bunch that settled in the base with a low spot (the one I just mentioned) above and below it. I didn’t measure the base well before my op. Maybe I gained .75 or .8 there? I thought it was the same starting stat as my mid shaft but I’m probably off. And again, it could have been spread out better. So, let’s say the Ellanse was perfectly spread out through the entire shaft what would have I gained? .55? .6?

I’m 35, quit drinking 2 months before op and since. Eat very healthy. Take injectable peptides, collagen , more vitamins than I can list, red light, nir, sauna. No caffeine, no meds. Should I have gained .65 or .7 because of all this? Or if I didn’t do all of this would I have gained .4? I didn’t want to find out doing the latter. It wasn’t so much I was anticipating .7 from 11ccs as much as I didn’t want a below .5 Inch gain. I feel I currently gained a little above average with this amount of Ellanse but guys have been gettin .5 from ten so if I’m at .55 with 11 than it’s pretty spot on. You also have to factor in my health before I quit drinking which was getting drunk every weekend and a constant use of low dosage stimulate meds which have reduced the overall quantity and production on collagen in my body. It’s a redundancy thing that I’m not smart enough to understand.

Here’s the thing. Dr M and Dr c aren’t going to tell you to stop enjoying alcohol, eating sugar, consuming caffeine, etc. Only smoking because I’m assuming there is more concrete evidence. Yet a simple google search reveals those aforementioned things are not good for your skin. So if we are undergoing a procedure that involves neocollagenesis, should we be doing everything we can to optimize healthy skin and collagen? Will these things have an effect? It’s up to you to decide.

Stress could be a factor in healthy skin but Avanti probably won’t be telling you to meditate as part of their post op care. They tell you what they know for sure. What’s known.

Some guys report .25 inc gains. Why is that? Tough pill has been drinking alcohol and consuming caffeine and only got .25 on his second round. Is that from the drinking or because his collagen stores were maxed from his great rd 1 result? Were sizemics small or diminished gains because of his excessive drinking and lack of sleep or from the PMMA percentages and early stages of the treatment he was undergoing? Or does none of it matter and it’s all genetics. I asked a recent member if he was drinking after he was asking about a .25inch gain and I didn’t get a response.

If you’re desperate for a .75 Inch gain from one round you need to get your head straight. It could very well not happen even though it seems like it’s happening with the current max PMMA procedure. I doubt you’ll get a bad result if you stop drinking now before your op. Dr. Oates told me he doubts any amount of alcohol would have an effect we can see. But I think he meant “any” as just that, “any” meaning moderation and not heavy drinking. Getting drunk once or twice a week with 6-10 drinks is a lot different than moderate consumption.

If I were you I’d stop for six weeks till growth from PMMA is reportedly at its max and decide for yourself if it had an effect. Then if you want to get drunk again go for it. Just my opinion. I didn’t want to make you nervous. It could have no effect although I’d bet a lot that hard drinking every weekend would have SOME effect. I don’t know how much. The small gains seem to be more rare. Tell them you want max amount of Girth they can give. PMMA is cheap. Count on multiple rounds and get the idea of .75 per round out of your head even though you could very well get that. A lot of guys on here eat like shit and probably drink a lot of coffee and their gains are fine. My plan is to get really big after three rounds and slowly ease back into enjoying getting drunk maybe once a month. I like the benefits of not drinking and the more I drank the less enjoyable it was.

If any other guys want to chime in and report how much they’ve been drinking compared tonjow much they’ve gained please feel free.

No worries Hyperbol. I asked for opinions and you gave me yours. It's not like you haven't done your research. I will definitely not be drinking post op, my fears were the drinking prior. Time will tell, I hope that it doesn't affect it everyone obviously wants max gains. I don't have a number exactly I am expecting, just hoping lol but I've read and have seen enough to know that it varies. Thank you for your response!

ToughPill gained +.75" in his first round and followed the same routine as he did in his 2nd round.

I think it's commendable that you're going to all these measures to be healthy, which should be a top priority for anyone, but I think your reasoning is flawed. There's no scientific evidence to suggest that alcohol diminishes your gains from collagen deposition and claiming it as a fact (without showing any studies to back it up) is pretty misleading. The sun is also damaging for collagen, does that mean you should completely avoid going out into the sun after doing this procedure? No, of course not!

The 3 most important factors for growth are 1) genetics, 2) skin elasticity, and 3) aftercare. You can't change your genetics and the way you respond to this procedure. One of the healthiest guys I've ever known ended up getting brain cancer and dying, and that was because of the genetics he was born with.

I drank a couple of beers after my procedure yesterday and I plan to continue drinking and enjoying my life throughout my recovery process. I'll keep you posted on the gains I end up getting, but after talking to the doctor, I feel confident the alcohol won't make an impact.
