Yes, I asked him if I should out butterfly bandage on it. He said \'no\' just keep it covered. He said if puss comes out, that\'s fine.

braveheart bro

I\'m not sure if I could help in anyway, but I was in a similar situation when I had a bad (really really bad as in, pus coming out freely from my wounds which burst open type of bad) after my 2nd alloderm surgery.

Initial reactions are pretty much - I\'m totally fucked.

However the good news is that infections can be treated properly IF you are in daily contact & treatment with a trusted doctor.

What happened to me was that over 10 days, I returned to the surgeon, who was fortunately very responsible and serious in treating my infection, and he cleaned my wounds on a daily basis. Everyday I was on an antibiotic drip.

Over these 10 days, my wounds were open and I was not able to take any showers as to not get the infected area wet. Daily even after he cleaned my infection and pus, I had to immerse my penis in iodine preparations for 10mins daily.

The good thing is that from the 6th day onwards, there was a significant reduction in swelling and pus, towards the 9th day, the open wounds were already dried.

When I went back on the 10th day, he cleaned and inspected my wounds thoroughly and told me that my penis was all clear, alloderm intact and blood vessels grown into it, then sanitised me one last time and stitched me up.

Until today, all is good and wound is hardly detectable, except for my V-Y plasty wound.

Don\'t give up bro, get a doctor to treat your infections daily until all is clear and you\'ll be fine.

Spoke to Dr. He said the fact that it\'s not worse is a good sign, and that he\'s not worried about the swelling. I asked him if I should shower. He said they I can, but not to get soap in the hole. How the heck am I supposed to do that. I may forego the shower. I wonder what his plan is for this hole.. Will he stitch it or leave as-is? I hope he stitches it.

I doubt he\'ll stitch the hole unless debridement surgery is needed. For some strange reason, these gaping holes seem to heal very nicely.

Why the hell is the swelling not getting better. Is it a hematoma? Do you think Dr Alter will drain it? I\'m in a bad place right now.

I doubt he\'ll drain it, unless he thinks it\'s infected. There is no need to drain it otherwise. It\'s not a hematoma. It could be a seroma, which is no big deal or it could be normal swelling.

Just to put your mind at rest, this is what you said 9 days post op after your last surgery:

\"Day 9: swelling of shaft is worse than it\'s been since surgery. This is starting to scare me.\"

The main reason these progress reports exist is to give others an idea of what the process is like. Do yourself a favour and use your own progress report to help you as hopefully it has and will continue to do for others!

Yes, thanks Hoddle. I\'ve read my prior history many times in the last week. Based on the timing, the swelling should have been gone yesterday, based on my last surgery. Hence, my frustration; but like you said, no 2 recoveries are the same. Just worried that the longer it takes to heal, the worse the residual harm

I saw Dr Alter. So I have a gaping necrotic hole in that spot. He cleaned it up and showed me how to care for it. He did say after surgery he was concerned about that spot. It had poor blood flow. It was the original scar from the initial lengthening done in 1995, which was later cleaned up in 1997 by Dr Giunta. Now the Necrosis has hit me again. Dr said I will be fine, and the hole will heal in time-month or so. Swelling is slightly better. He said give that time too. This recovery will take every ounce of my courage and will to get through.

I just showered with my hole, and jammed the damp gauze in there, which I have to do 3 x per day. I\'m glad I got the first time over with, as it is freaky as hell. I\'ll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Do you guys think I should find a local wound care doctor to give me hands on care for this healing? Reading the net, this could take months to heal. However, if properly cared for, the healing time could be reduced, like Gokkun. I don\'t know if I should be cleaning out the yellow goop that build up, or let it go.
