Sorry you’ve had to deal with that. Your situation sounds complex and clearly different from the usual PMMA experience.
In general, once PMMA integrates and stabilizes—usually after the first few months—the firmness tends to remain consistent. The microspheres themselves don’t soften or dissolve over time, but surrounding tissues can change, which can affect how things feel. Factors such as chronic inflammation, swelling, or fibrosis from an infection or surgery (as in your case) can alter the skin and tissue texture significantly.
When the inflammation and fibrosis subside, it’s common for the overlying skin to become looser or softer, especially if lymphatic drainage was compromised or there was loss of connective support. That can make the penis feel softer when squeezed, even if the PMMA underneath hasn’t changed.
Your description of the variable skin tightness depending on temperature and position sounds consistent with loss of uniform skin elasticity rather than degradation of the filler. If there’s residual pain and redness a year later, that suggests persistent low-grade inflammation or fibrosis rather than ongoing PMMA change.
In general
PMMA does not soften over time
—the changes you’re feeling are almost certainly from tissue remodeling after infection and circumcision, not the product itself.
