TOPIC: Update on my surgical removal

The 20% comment scared me and made me think I need to come up with as many questions as I can when I do the consult next Wednesday and then the other one with the other doctor. Any suggestions for questions are appreciated. Thanks so far I have how much will I lose in size, side effects, Potential risks.

I have read split thickness skin grafts, just the top layer (epidermis) can shrink up to 20 perc. This is why the graft is usually sized 20 perc larger than needed. Shrinkage can be mitigated by using a thick split thickness graft. This utilizes the epidermis and some of the dermis. This will be a slightly thicker graft but will shrink less.

I’ve been through enough I can’t lose anymore. If that’s the information I get from the next two consults then I’ll figure something else out, but I’m not living with a shorter Dick than what I have now or a hideous one that no one‘s going to touch.

Persevere! Things will be better. Get your info and make an educated decision

So I finally have some hope. I met with two doctors today who I had met with before but just doing follow up since we’re coming up on the six month mark.
The one in Fort Worth, really only a does trauma/injury, reconstruction (Steve' Hudak)
But he was very informative and seemed the most direct and clear of any doctor I’ve worked with so far. So I won’t be going to see him since that’s not what I need. He said he could deploy it, which has been the recommendation by multiple doctors and that was my plan until I met with Dr mistry in Austin today again. We talked about how it’s not perfect right now, but if I can get the constricted area raised up then I might be OK with the way it is.
Once you deglove there’s nothing left to do. It will never get better and there’s nothing else from a treatment perspective that you can do.
So he’s proposing a scar Revision on the constricted area and then using dermal matrix to fill-in. He said it would take probably four or five procedures to get it at where it needs to be and then there would be a graft to cover it. He said that would only be Probably 2 inches wide and all the way around my penis.

Still not going to be perfect, but I’m really hesitant to do the degloving. I figured that if Dr mistry plan does not work then I can deglove. so I am waiting to hear back from him tomorrow about when we can start. He said every six weeks, depending on the healing of each dermal metric layer, then we can do the next one. He said insurance will cover the hospital and anesthesiologist but his fee would be private to pay. Basically the code he would use would pay him really next to nothing. There may be some issues with insurance on that because if he’s in network and using a billing code that they accept a lot of companies require them to let me use my insurance. I spent 18 years with Aetna and ANthem so pretty familiar with all that. I’m fine with that because it seems reasonable and it’s the first time I felt hopeful since January 10, 2025.

I have my first surgery scheduled for July 11. Basically the dock will clean out the constricted area/scar tissue there. He will then put in derma matrix and will do that every six weeks until it’s at the level. I need it.

Has anyone ever had this procedure done or no what the recovery time is like? He said every six weeks after it heals he’ll do it again but I’m curious more about when I’ll go back to work, etc..

These Repair reconstruction procedures are all experimental. No one has had your exact procedure done. Will be interesting. Good luck

I want to wish you all the luck from the bottom of my , I haven't written to you anymore but I follow every step of your story. I'm close to you and I understand how hard it is to get up every day and face the challenges of life knowing that you have such a frustrating situation. My story is different but just as painful and I understand well what you are going through. I get up every day and check my dick that is fighting with a latent infection that will probably accompany me for the rest of my life, burning and pain sometimes unbearable make me depressed and sometimes I just wish I didn't have it attached to my body anymore, then I think of my family and I try to be strong. A surgical intervention in my case is not certain that it will solve the problem, the infection has attached itself to all the PMMA creating biofilm and it is impossible to remove it 100% I have no alternatives but to live with this burning. I hope that your situation will improve with time and that the surgery in July will be a start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm so sorry you are going thru this. I hope you are getting support somewhere in addition to here. Therapy has helped me. I'm also a therapist...
I don't know if this will resolve my issue but at least it's a last ditch effort before degloving. I don't really want to do that since it will still look deformed and lose more sensitivity AND be up to 30% smaller. I hope my appeal gets approved in August when I meet with the board and I hope my complaint against dr. Kansas gets traction. I'll be filing it this week.
These guys cannot keep getting away with this! The Texas system is set up in favor of the doctors. Screw the patients.....

Following up. Today was the big reveal and follow up w doc, correct? Bandages off, how does it look?

he moved it to Friday based on the pictures and the progress I was giving him via text. And of course now it’s very sore and swells every now and then and not in the fun way. Although that happens occasionally too for some reason, just spontaneously. And it’s been very warm so I’ve had an ice pack on it. I’ve texted him and he said I could remove the bandage if I wanted to or leave it till Friday. The bandage is pretty tight since it’s swelling. There’s no real concern about discoloration. All of it seems to be expected. I don’t know why doctors can’t give a better picture of what to expect after a Procedure!
I really feel bad texting him directly. I’m so grateful he gave me his personal number and I have texted him once a day basically every day today I did it twice,. He understands the trauma. I’ve been through with the previous surgery so he’s being incredibly empathetic and supportive. I’m really appreciative of him.
Dr Kansas only gave me the on-call number and the times I had to call that I never got to speak to him. I had his email which he was responsive to until they told him to stop doing it for legal reasons.
but there were times when I called the on-call and it took 45 minutes to get a call back. One time I had to call twice in an hour and it still took another 30 minutes. The first time, is when I was bleeding profusely, and I proceeded to the ER and still didn’t hear back from them until I was there and the ER doctor had to wait 45 minutes to get a call back! So I’m really happy with Dr Mistry that he’s been so available and compassionate
I could not sleep, it’s almost 1 AM central time right now and it’s swelling partially because I’m getting an Erection and with a bandage that tight it’s almost like having a Cock ring on so once it starts it basically makes it harder. So I’ve been walking around, and I have an ice pack on it and I’m having coffee. I don’t think the coffee is very therapeutic for my Dick, but it is for my brain.

I totally regret my initial decision to do this. Or at least my decision to push it past the second procedure to enhance it. It was that third procedure that sent it over the edge with the granuloma and making it too big. I don’t know if I ever posted those pictures of the size it got too, but it was basically the size of a water bottle when it got hard. Sounds fun and hot but useless. and it was really pretty until it wasn’t.
