Email copy of quoted fees updated as of Sept 2013:

www.thebarroncenters.com

Length: $4900Girth w/Alloderm: $7900Length and girth: $10,900One thing to keep in mind when comparing is we do our procedure somewhat differently from most others. Our technique for lengthening involves the use of a V-Y advancement flap and securing the shaft in the forward position, which we have found achieves much better results in terms of length without any instability of the shaft or significant change in angulation. As for downtime, we recommend avoiding strenuous physical activity for ten days and vigorous sexual activity for a month. Aside from that, you can resume all other activity immediately. We recommend keeping the incision dry for four days, after which you can take a quick shower, but no soaking for three weeks. If you have other questions, feel free to contact us.R Barron

I wrote Dr. Barron with regards to the issues brought up in the links provided by hoddle10 to see if he would comment. His response is posted below:

Re: Troubling information found on your record.? (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) 1:42 PM, September 10, 2013 Unfortunately, these postings do exist, and as you rightly comment, they can be very misleading. Over the course of 20 years of practice, I have had my share of patients, that if I had a crystal ball, I would have chosen to not accept. However, hindsight is always 20/20. One patient, after filing a complaint with the medical board, wanted to come back to me several years later. How bad could I have been? I was disciplined by the Calif and NY boards for inadequate records because they couldn't read my writing. In another situation, my medical license was used by a group of criminals to fraudulently bill Medicare. Fortunately it was easy to show I was not part of this.In any practice or business, you aren't going to be able to please everyone 100% of the time. I don't think there is anyone doing penile enlargement procedures who has the experience we have, but where you choose to have your procedure done is a decision only you can make.R Barron
On 9/9/13 at 6:25 PM, initial email wrote to Dr. Barron read as follows:Dr. Barron, I am a member of a number of forums. Unfortunately, many people have posted negative press about you and your practice. I do not judge people based on the comments of others, but the links they provide are compelling. If I being misled, I am more than happy to post for you on your behalf, but the following links are troubling to say the least. Please peruse and comment when you have the time. I had Girth enhancement surgery with Barron back in 2001. I immediately developed a severe necrotic issue and lost about 1/4 of my penis. The two plastic surgeons that I had resconstruction surgery with said \"you\'re lucky you didn\'t lose your penis\". Barron is a pleasant guy to speak with but his surgical expertise is poor. Stay away from him.

I don\'t quite understand, do you mean you lost length? Or do you mean you lost skin which caused lost length ? Because it\'s a bit hard to believe you actually lost part of your penis
Either way, well done for getting through it, it must of been an extremely difficult time.
It really does make me think twice about ever having Phalloplasty again when i hear stories like this.

Hi Reklaw. I guess I should have been more precise with my comment. What Barron did was place WAY too much material in my penis (he used a bovine material instead of Alloderm to save money) and it restricted blood flow. So much so that the entire area where the material was placed started to turn black, i.e., become necrotic. Basically all the skin on the dorsal side of my penis, from the glans back to the base, died. After about 4 days I went to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago where a plastic surgeon debrided the wound. The doctors were considering skin grafts but decided to wait it out to see how my body reacted to the trauma. Eventually (a couple of weeks) the skin started to re-epithelialize. By that I mean the healthy skin at the border of the wound started growing back in. It took about two months for it to completely regrow. As you can imagine it didn\'t look very good and was full of adhesions. I had to have several minor surgeries over the following years to get back to some semblance of normal. I would have loved to sue Barron but California has a one year statute of limitations and I was slow on the draw. Any questions let me know

Long time reader, first time poster. I just found this thread and had to share my experience as I cannot stomach watching this guy posting here and still practicing medicine.

I had the phalloplasty surgery done with Rodney Barron in 1996; that I received no benefit or gain from the surgery became the least of my problems. This surgery was the worst mistake that I\'ve made and has ruined an aspect of my adult life. I can say that the moniker \'Barron the Butcher\' is very well deserved.

The surgery left me with disfiguring scars; two on the inside of both legs, 6 inches long and half inch width, running from the inside leg by my scrotum all the way up to near my hip bone. This was the donor site for the fat grafts that they took from there for the supposed girth procedure. So now I have these 2 scars like in form of a V that have turned purple over the years. Why they took fat from there, I do not know, and never disclosed anything about the scars. Where they inserted the fat grafts was under glans up top, that also left 2 scars that have now turned keloidal and black. If I pull my foreskin up, it looks like my member is dirty. The fat grafts of course all absorbed and no gain was had, however, the fat grafts have turned into scar tissue and there are small chunks of whatever that I can pinch. Next, where they cut the lig above the top base of the member left an X shaped scar, sizeable keloidal scar and in the center of the raised X, there is a hole. A very noticeable one, about the size of my urethral opening yet. I got about quarter in gain in flaccid length only, nothing in erect state. Again, something else that wasn\'t disclosed.

Due to the shameful nature of this surgery and results, I never took any legal action. I found a small consolation that Barron was sent to prison for fraud ---

articles.latimes.com/2010/oct/30/local/la-me-doctors-20101030

I hope that the time he had in prison is even a fraction of the hell I\'ve suffered at the hands of this criminal, although I think he is trying to say in the above post that his license was used illegally by another group. However, I don\'t know why his license hasn\'t been pulled and he is still practicing urology, although it seems he\'s stopped butchering people with his phaloplasty. I would have rather given him the money just to save myself from the damage this guy caused. If I can persuade even one person to avoid surgery, not just with this guy but with any doctor, a scalpel should never be anywhere near that part of your body, and these so-called \'doctors\' just preying on men\'s insecurities. I have no dog in this fight, I\'m sharing my experience as a victim, I went in for self-improvement and, without going into the details of the countless episodes over the years, turned into a lifelong nightmare. By the way, over the years I\'ve done numerous treatments and scar revision surgeries, after many years and thousands of dollars, there has been some improvement but not quite there. I am holding hope for new technology such as 3D stem cell regeneration (stem cell gun) to end the day where I look at myself in the mirror and relive this story. I have to take comfort in the fact that I\'m still functional, even though my EQ never quite stood upright as it did before.

Rodney Barron - this message is for you. If you\'re reading this, I hope karma catches up to you in this life or the next and you get exactly what you deserve. Now if only my eyes can witness that.
