What is PRP / P-Shot? A short evidence overview

Disclosure: I'm posting on behalf of Dr SNA Clinic, 48 Wimpole Street, London (Dr Syed Nadeem Abbas, GMC-registered, MRCGP, MRCSEd, DFSEM). We offer PRP-based treatments, so please read this knowing we have a professional interest.

Since this section covers non-surgical methods, I wanted to share a plain-language overview of PRP (platelet-rich plasma), sometimes marketed as the "P-Shot".

What it is: A small blood sample is taken, spun to concentrate the platelets, and the plasma is injected under local anaesthetic. The idea is to support tissue health and blood flow using the patient's own cells.

What the evidence says: Research on PRP for erectile function is early and mixed. Many urology guidelines still describe it as investigational. There is no good evidence that PRP increases penile length or girth, and we don't offer it for that purpose. Anyone telling you otherwise should be asked for their data.

Things worth asking any provider:
- Is the doctor registered, and is the clinic regulated (CQC in England)?
- What is the evidence for the specific result being promised?
- What are the risks, and what happens if something goes wrong?
- Will they assess your history first, and are they willing to say no?

This isn't medical advice, and we can't assess individual cases in a forum. Suitability needs a proper consultation. Happy to answer general questions about what PRP is and isn't.
