TOPIC: Testicular Implants Removed

Testicular Implants Removed 11 years 2 months ago #1276932926

Two weeks ago Joel Gelman, MD at the UC Irvine Medical center removed the most recently place testicular implant due to severe infection. So far doing well unfortunately he insisted on removing the other one as well. Now I have everything out.

@Roguetrader

Has your infection been resolved now that the implants have been removed?

I recall they were Dr. Elist\'s implants, how long did you have them in for? What was Dr. E\'s response to your situation?

Good luck with your recovery, - info regarding testicular implants (success and/or failures) are far and few - you are doing this forum a great service by sharing your story. Thanks!

Things are pretty much back to normal as far as my daily routine goes... except I have deep hole in my scrotum now that I have to pack with iodoform gauze and change daily. I can put a whole bottle of it in there! Dr Gelman says it will get better gradually...over months.
They took good care of me in the hospital. The food was awful though. lol.
I think it was the opening Dr Elist placed a penrose drain in ( a flexible thin piece of latex), that caused the infection. As Dr Gelman said: \"well, it lets stuff in too\". That\'s what I think because that is the only thing different about this surgery of the three total that I had on the testicular area.Dr Gelman showed me the pictures he took during surgery. The initial incision showed a giant pool of pus. Another showed a huge area of cheesy looking material.
Another showed 10 or so Sutures literally THROUGH my testicle. Dr Gelman left those segments in. I asked isn\'t that bad for them? He said he rather they weren\'t there but that the risk of damage from removing them outweighed the benefit.I was in surgery a little over two hours. I was in the hospital 24 hours.
I guess you can add Dr Gelman to the list of doctors getting lots of experience treating Dr Elist patients complications.
I was scheduled with Dr Elist to drain the \"hydrocele\" on that side (as big as baseball) then decided to go to Dr Gelman instead.I have not told Dr Elist. But I think I will actually. Just so he knows... and to hear what he says.

How does this man get away with so much malpractice? The fact he sewed through your testicle is messed up big time. It is sad that when you sign a form, it good as gives them the right to do anything to you. This man need to be taken to court. Make sure you let people know on different forums about what elist has done, so it may save some innocent men from becoming his victims. Sorry if people see what I have written as over the top, just it is upsetting reading stuff like this.

From what I have read about these implants around the genitals, it seems there should be a prescription of anti biotics and a lot of wound after care, after the operation.

I emailed his assistant two basic questions.

1) What is your Revision rate?
2) Can this surgery cause your Testosterone levels to differ..

Received no reply.

He won\'t put anything in writing that may place him liable.

Thanks for your interest and concern. It has been a year since my surgery by Dr Gelman to remove my testicular implants due to a persistent severe infection. I have been seeing him at regular intervals during that time. I want him to revise the scar on my scrotum where the infection was. The skin is bunched up on that side. Presumably because of the scar tissue. Dr Gelman wants to me wait another 6 months, and really he is trying to discourage me from doing any more surgery at all..
He said basically: \"I am a surgeon. I love surgery. And I make money doing it . BUT I don\'t think it is necessarily in YOUR best interest, to do it. What if it doesn\'t look better? What if it looks worse?\"
Anyway'.I did a Skype consultation with Dr Solomon too, a few weeks ago. He said he thought he could make it look better. I want Dr Gelman to do it and I am going to wait six months then see him again. If he doesn\'t want to do it then I may see Dr Solomon. The area does continue to shrink and soften a bit'

I did see Dr Elist just after I had them removed. He said he would be happy to put them in again. lol. I don\'t remember what else he said. He had told me it was a hydrocele. Dr Gelman proved it wasn\'t. I am so glad I didn\'t have another surgery with Elist.

If Dr Elist was causing problems like this in any other field such as rhinoplasty or something like that he would have been sued hundreds of times, he would probably be in prison and his atrocities would be reported by the world media (newspapers, tv documentaries). But because it\'s Phalloplasty and no one dares say anything he gets away this, and instead of getting sued himself he sues anyone who says a bad word of him, and instead of getting condemned by newspapers and magazines they advertise for him (Daily Mail, GQ Magazine). He\'s butchering people\'s bodies and destroying people\'s lives and the world is just standing by and watching and media outlets are assisting him.

It's been a little over two months since I had testicular implants by Dr. Elist. I don't want to add gasoline to the flame but I feel pretty much deformed. I cannot imagine being comfortable having sex again. The implants are so hard that no one in their right mind would think that my Balls were normal. My right ball sac is huge. It doesn't seem to be infected but I have no clue why it would be so much bigger than the other. Feels like fluid in there. The left ball feels like it's affixed to the upper part of my ball sac tight against my pubic bone. Again, it looks deformed. But I'm not here to just complain. I seriously need some guidance about what's possible. I've been heartened to read that some have had the implants removed. If any of you have, and you read this post, please reply to me. I'm more than a little scared because of how difficult it has been to heal from this surgery, I am reluctant to go under the knife again but I don't believe Dr. Elist when he says that the implants will get softer feeling after 5-6 months. Lastly, I really don't think I'll put myself in Dr, Elist's hands again. I haven't even asked how much he would charge to remove the implants. Anyone know of a Urologist in the San Diego area who could do this surgery.
Desperate for guidance!
