I saw the top Peyronie\'s expert in Canada thanks for that though.

TLDR - If you have hard spots, please try DMSO! Details follow.

I\'ve been using DMSO on the left side nodules (those that were not excised surgically) since October 1. These have been present since April (R3 in March 2015). So, about 6 months later, nothing changed despite Kenalog and 5fu. That\'s why I had surgery after Kenalog and 5-fu failed. Well... I wish I used DMSO to put it mildly. I tried it briefly before, but it was too close to my open wound.

This time, I used it for 2 weeks 1-3 times per day. Then, I took a week off. I went back after that week. It still seemed to be changing in my week off. I used the same formula as Red1975. Biovea 99% pure DMSO (3 parts) with Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar (1 part). I mixed the 4 parts in a syringe (no needle) and then just dripped it out on my skin and rubbed it in with a sterile tongue depressor from amazon. I let it air dry, and then sometimes use castor and emu oil, though I don\'t think that part is as important. It keeps the skin less irritated though.

I\'ve also added in traction after the DMSO, which may help pull the nodules and thin them out maybe (who knows - I need to use it anyway).

I wish I did this sooner, but I had that freakish open wound for 2 months, so I was afraid it would hurt that area. I don\'t know if it can help nodules that feel like BBs (still TBD) - but it has considerably softened the islands of PMMA tissue and the rough edges I have had form after R3. They\'re still there, but not as hard. In the Erect state, there is far less of a transition between those uneven / unnatural edges and the softer PMMA tissue.

Pics don\'t really tell the story since this is all about feel... and it continues to improve. Pics tend to look the same, I think.

I would REALLY encourage anyone with nodules to try this. Kenalog and 5-fU were both useless for me, despite the literature. How DMSO works... I have no idea... but it absolutely is working. It can feel mildly annoying to do it every day - with the measuring, cleaning the penis, and walking around waiting for it to dry off. But, I see no real downside - and the results are pretty good. DMSO is strong stuff. Some dripped on my ottoman that has a leather top and it took the finish off the spot on the leather! (The penis is still the same color).

Oddly enough, it burns / itches when i put it on skin like my leg or forearm (as a test), but I have no issue on the penis. The smell of vinegar is also a reason I stopped using it earlier, but I think that isn\'t the part that even does anything. I suppose Iodine can be used, or even sterile water... the DMSO is the anti-inflammatory agent, and it\'s a universal solvent - so maybe it\'s getting some of the PMMA out of the tissue and more evenly distributed? I have no idea, but it works. I am not sure how far it can work, but for now I\'ll keep trying with a few weeks on and off. I think the body continues to remodel the area once the DMSO triggers the anti-inflammatory action (or whatever it does). I also used some additional massage of the nodules apart from traction, but DMSO is doing 90% of the work.

Welp after all this DMSO talk I think I\'m going to give it a shot. Are there any risk with this?

edit.. I just googled it so I have some reading to do. But it\'s good here it\'s working for you. I definitely need to do something. I am also planning to see Dr. C again in January for a touch up procedure. Gonna try this first since money is tight.

Is this the good stuff?

I think it will help... it\'s a complicated substance because it\'s on websites with people claiming it cures 100 diseases & then that makes you think it\'s just some snake oil thing. Also, there\'s some controversy about \"over the counter\" DMSO and the actual Rx which is called Rimso-50 (sterile 50% DMSO irrigation - not for injection). It is for a bladder issue. There are some claims that over the counter DMSO has residual chemicals in it that the Rx does not... but I don\'t know.. .All I know is I finally have a smoother penis... after ALLL that crap I have been through.... this is what worked and I honestly still cannot believe it. How can a topical liquid break up densely packed collagen deep in the penis? I have no idea. The risks are hard to know because there\'s just not much out there about it. You can read the PDF I linked. The main risk is using too much and getting irritated skin - I think Hoddle mentioned he had this happen (it happened when i put it on my leg as a test, but not my penis - weird). That\'s why I took a week off too.

Jewdub, I think you\'re a little more similar to me in having a lot of hard patches and nodules - so I\'d give it about a month ... you can use it 1-3 times a day. Castor oil is good to apply after it\'s absorbed, but I am not sure if it does much. It probably helps the skin.

This is the one that Red & I have used.

Bragg apple cider vinegar is like $6 at the grocery store or GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. I don\'t know exactly what it does. It can remove moles entirely from people\'s faces...and it has all these other crazy uses...so it hasn\'t hurt. This isn\'t something you need to use for years, so any side effect should be self limiting. In the PDF of the Rx, there really aren\'t any side effects except for a garlic taste in the mouth.

It\'s interesting that it also treats other scar / inflammatory diseases like scleroderma:

Well, good luck with it - it might take 3-4 weeks if you have a lot of hard spots. And it\'s kind of annoying to do all the time - but seriously if you stick with it, it might be the best option you can do.

I\'m honestly still in disbelief over the results from this vs. repeated kenalog and 5fu injections that did nothing (except cause hypopigmentation and red oozing).

My only caveat is that I don\'t think it will dissolve/soften the hard nodules that feel like frozen peas. I haven\'t had progress on one that is like that under my shaft. My doc cut out 95% of that cluster of nodules, and then oddly he left this little tiny piece behind. He first said it was a buried stitch, but it\'s one of those rock hard pmma lumps...not a rigid edge. And, it\'s 6 months old now - so it\'s a bastard.

Hoddle, have you ever heard of anyone injecting DMSO? It\'s sold as sterile solvent for research use, and it is injected in mice for various research purposes. It appears PMMA is soluble in DMSO, though it\'s not clear.

@Restoration
Thanks. Yea, I need to see if I can get in touch with Wade and ask. I know he had a family emergency and was out of pocket for a week. He called me last Wednesday as a follow up to see how things were going and I briefly touched on the issue but he didn\'t have a lot to say in response. I emailed him a couple of pics Thursday evening but haven\'t gotten a response. I just hate pestering them \"too much\" because I know how busy they are. And if it is something that will end up taking care of it\'s self then suddenly I am becoming just another one of those paranoid guys. But the counter point to that is, if it is something I can take care of I certainly want to give it a shot. It\'s pretty damn painful, and got me to the point that I avoid sex. The woman, on the other hand, is all about the new penis and wants to ride it like she is going for the triple crown. Makes it tough to say no.

Thanks Red - I\'m gonna use less & just soak the q-tip more and do it that way. Where do you mix it? I\'ve been reading how dmso absorbs everything & I think my glasses would have Jetdry residue on them or something lol... I don\'t even know.

This is gonna sound crazy, but I think one of the nodules is smaller...after 2 applications yesterday. This was in the same area where the pain sensation went away and also where i used the q-tip to massage it for a little while after. Then, when it was dry, I massaged the Nodule a little more with my fingers. I swear it is smaller now - but maybe I\'m hallucinating from the placebo effect. The others didn\'t really change much, but I didn\'t put too much on those or massage them.

I did get a red patch of skin that lasted through to today still- not even where the Nodule went down. Just on one of the firm areas on top. The skin might be more sensitive there or maybe too much liquid got on that spot.

Are you still doing it and still improving?

My Dick looks completely normal now, in fact even better than it ever has been. The implant softened to the point that it feels like a real Dick all over. Soft and hard it is perfect!!

I\'ve stopped using it now but will always have on hand just in case. I am still applying the emu oil every day just to keep it soft

I\'m so pleased about that. It just always made sense to me that DMSO would be great for dealing with lumps etc with PMMA.

I wonder if it\'s worth using even if you don\'t have any specific lumps or hard areas. Obviously if your penis already feels completely natural then it\'s not worth trying. But many say they can feel the material. As I mentioned with me scar tissue, it didn\'t dissolve it, but softened it to the point I\'m glad it\'s there as it feels totally like normal penis, only it gives me a tad more Girth. If I\'d have PMMA, I\'d be tempted to us DMSO for a month, to see if it can make the tissue feel more natural and just smooth everything out.

That\'s amazing. I had to stop using it because I have 2 incisions & it was accidentally running into those... but I have got to try again once they are more healed.

Red - did you have nodules that were BB-sized and rock hard, or was your issue more like diffuse hard patches. I just wonder if it helps the rock hard nodules too because those feel almost like pure PMMA...whereas old nodules I had from Metacrill had some \"give\" to them and ultimately went away (as residual inflammation subsided). Some that I have now feel like they won\'t break/dissolve no matter what.

Do you guys think maybe you should inform Dr. Casavantes, so maybe he can suggest to future patients who are freaking out. I know I\'d be one of those. Soon anyway.

Okay, so I am more than intrigued with this. I am only 17 days out, and I know things are just barely getting going good and will change multiple times along the way. But I have two VERY uncomfortable ridges. Both are on the bottom side of the circ scar really close to the gland. They are causing constant irritation which is resulting in the circ scar retaining fluid. And are stupid uncomfortable with an Erection. To the point that I have been abstaining. I have been trying to massage them and manipulate them to see if they will go away to no avail.

So do you guys think it is way too early in my progress to try this to get rid of the ridges? Or should I give it a shot? I can\'t imagine waiting this out until round two and seeing if the good doctor can do anything about it.

This is your first post, and you give us no background information on why you may want to use DMSO. Please explain more or don\'t bother posting at all.

@timid newbie - i havent asked them directly about dmso since the risks are limited and Red was having success, but maybe you should ask. I asked my Dermatologist, and he said it\'s been around forever and he\'s not comfortable recommending it because he just doesn\'t know enough about it.
