Comparing Dr N & Dr C procedure and after care 10 years 6 months ago #1283009075

Hi All

After reading a few esults of Dr N on how she goes about the procedure and then the after care, I was wondering to hear other members thoughts..

Why Does Dr N say not to masage for the furst 48 hrs and Dr C says too? Dr N seems to have a bit more duty of Care with her patients as well as she is not interested in putting in so much..however I have read how great Dr C and his team are.

I am curious to know then do you leave it for the first 48 hrs when its cemeting ot do you masage??

does it seem that Dr N get a better result or Dr C

This is a great thread.
Would love to hear more patients from Dr N.

And the debate over massage vs no massage, and steroid shot vs no steroid shot.

Yeah, that\'s why I left everything open...they said if you cover the holes then you\'ll get nodules and lumps more than if you leave it. Now, I guess I\'m just kinda wondering what happened after 27ccs to only get .25\" mid shaft, and 0 in other places...unless I\'m not \"done\" yet...but I\'m at 6 weeks though.

You want this. It doesn\'t push \"a lot out,\" but it certainly prevents clumping, which in my opinion, was the biggest reason for my nodules. I was afraid of over-squeezing/massaging in fear that I\'d lose product, but trust me, you really aren\'t pushing 15-20cc\'s out. Because of my irrational fear of losing product (and thus size), I suffered the consequences with Nodule formation. Where you have entry points, be sure to continue massaging & squeezing, it may just spare you a Nodule or two

Fortunately, my nodules have been corrected (for the most part), but why even risk them? - follow Nurse & Doctor protocol, it\'s something I should have done from the beginning.

When I have had surgery, they usually put dexamethasone in the IV - and it\'s partially to prevent swelling during the procedure so the doctors can still work after 30-45 minutes - the surgical plane will stay even & not swell that bad (still does, though). Swelling sets in pretty fast once you start poking holes in any part of the body - I think it might come out more asymmetrical if you didn\'t have cortisone. i also agree it would freak a lot of people out (including me) to have a lot more swelling - especially there.

My results are fading daily...but I don\'t think it\'s related to this - I have no real idea s to why...some areas have 0\" growth (glans to circ scar) and some have 0.25 at most. It\'s hard to measure this that well, but it\'s frustrating to see it all go away after ALL this (yet the itching and stinging remains - feels like i have splinters). I think a lot of my PMMA leaked out bc 27 was a lot and i had 5 days of bleeding / oozing. 1cc isn\'t that much fluid - definitely more than that came out. I went though giant boxes of gauze every day.

So, back to the Dr. N thing - if she wraps it and tells you to leave it alone, perhaps more product stays in there. Massaging pushes a lot out too.

I concur with Michael..I spoke to plasrtic surgeon friend again, I must of mis understood what he said, but on round 2 of further questions with him he said you do not need a steriod injection, especially as a pre-impetive strike, however understands why Dr C uses it due to the amount he injects

Rest, I think you are right about the quantity amounts. About the collagen, all I know from reading online journals on collagen, is that the foundations or cells that produce collagen become active within 24 hrs. Cortisone shots administered in the early stages slow down wound healing because it limits the fibroblasts cells which are responsible for collagen. So this would affect the long term result as there is less inflammation and the body\'s immune response is limited, doesn\'t see it as serious, so few fibroblasts are active during the stages of collagen production, to the maturation.

The only reason I can see Dr. C using cortisone shots is because he uses large amounts of PMMA, which possible would increase the body immune response ( just incase you have an over active immune system that leads to over production), leading to lumps. Or maybe he just doesn\'t want clients over worried when their junk swells up like a ball, so limits this with shots.

Michael - Do you think cortisone has a long enough activity to inhibit the response PMMA is supposed to create? I thought about this before too - and my own personal conclusion is that the steroid blunts the surgical trauma swelling - and then it wears off. Once your immune system starts dealing with PMMA particles, the steroid is already gone and you have 6 weeks steroid-free of collagen growth. Cortisone is pretty much out by day 3...I think. Not sure on the dose or the fact it is IV, but that\'s generally what I\'ve heard. I think if they were giving a high dose of cortisone (or longer acting steroid), they\'d have to ask more about your health status bc some people can have issues with it.

Here are the two main factors I think that make these docs differ:

Regarding massage: Wade definitely smoothed out a lot of stuff that was forming the next day - and the next day after that. If he didn\'t - I don\'t know what I would look like right now...a mess...probably. As is, I have a hard lump at the base and a soft lump on the circ scar. I don\'t know how Dr. N would advocate no massage in an organ that changes shape so drastically from hard to soft - and has varying degrees of skin tightness making PMMA settle in the path of least resistance (though if she has all uncut patients - this might change the equation). Wade said wrapping can cause more problems than it solves bc people don\'t wrap evenly. Regarding quantity: It is interesting to think about low amounts of 30% vs. high amounts. I only had 10% and still developed a Nodule, possibly due to the 27ccs I had (and I only am 6\"), though who knows. If I had 15 cc of 30%, maybe this would have been better. I\'m sure Dr. C must have tried lower quantities of PMMA in the past. He did with Edupd, who got 15cc of 10% and gained almost nothing - so he probably doesn\'t want to do that since people are flying from all over the place.

As I gear up for the next round, I am very interested in this topic because I do not know if I should ask for more 10% or a low amount of 30%,..or even a regular amount of 30. My gains have started fading below 0.5\" in some areas already (week 6). Trying to ignore it until later on...but I hate seeing it shrink.

I disagree on the need for steriods. Steriods limit the amount of active fibroblast to make collagen, Dr N has had good results without them using smaller amount of PMMA. Dr N uses the original technique done by in DR Serra from Brazil.

When it comes to complications I think it has more to do with out your body will react to the PMMA.

Thx SO..I also see she doesnt inject a steriod before..I was speaking with a plastic surgeon who is a friend about this treatment and he said make sure you are awake and that you recieve a steriod shot before the procedure....

My biggest question is do you or dont you massage...do yo need a streacher afterwards...etc...

I am about to book to see Dr C at the end of this month...however am now seriosluy considering going to Prague....much easier to get there too...big decision....

P.S thx to all that have contributed to this forum..its been a massive help and a massive tool of info.research for me

I\'ve seen great results with both doctors, I\'ve also read/seen complications with both doctors. There are some notable differences with each physician, an example being the massage-or-no-massage question.

I believe, at least as of now, that it is nearly impossible to analyze both physicians adequately since there are far & few Dr. N reports. The Dr. N reports here have been thorough, but the sample size and language barrier makes it a bit trickier to make valid assessments. That said, this thread is a great way to start closing those gaps of knowledge. A discussion on this question is great, and I implore all Dr. N patients to make notes on their experiences against what they\'ve read with Dr. C patients.

She does wrap it, but doesnt tell you to leave it alone! she say that you should massage it softly often the first 2-3 days.

But i think the biggest advantage of Dr.Ns tecnique is that she only has one entry point, and its all the way at the base! i am shure that reduces the risk for noodles a lot as it seems (at lest to me) many get them in and around entrypoints.

it also seems the skin on the penis heal slower then the skin where she injects..? both times its only taken like 30 min to an hour before the hole was seald up for me.. tho ive only done 10cc then 18cc round 2..
