Is Metacrill or any other pmma filler approved in the EU? 5 years 4 months ago #1308498925

Hi. I have had Metacrill injected in Prague by Dr. N. Before going there I have read here that Metacrill is approved in the EU. I started to wonder the other day about long term effects of PMMA. I started to look into Metacrill since the purity of the filler is of importance to avoid bad effects both long term and short term. I was surprised how little info I found about Metacrill online. I did find this page that I looked at before going also www.metacrill.net/index.php/en/ it shows conviniently enough that the distributor is in the Czech Republic just like Dr. N. Can anyone show any clear evidence that Metacrill is approved in the EU? Or any other PMMA filler for that matter? Feel a bit stupid when seeing what has happened to FatMike and Miracle and realising I did not look more into the background of Metacrill in Europe.

I wouldn\'t worry about those 2 cases. Silicone is known to cause sclerosing lipogranulomas. PMMA isn\'t. Both Fatmike and Miracle had silicone. I\'ve got silicone and it stresses me out. My PMMA doesn\'t. I know there is potential for PMMA to react, but if it does I\'d expect it to turn lumpy and hard, but not cause serious skin Necrosis. Basically, from I\'ve read over the years, it\'s the oil based fillers that cause for skin loss. Silicone, vaseline and parafin are what result in the skin being eaten away. I\'ve never seen any evidence of that happening with PMMA or other particulate fillers like Ellanse or Radiesse.

Aware that silicone has a higher risk, but never seen any clear evidence similar things can not occur with PMMA. I already have a lump and nodules at the injection point and could not care less as long as that is the only issue I will see.

But aren\'t you only worrying about it because of what has happened to Fatmike and Miracle?

I could understand if the PMMA was injected into the skin itself, as if it were to react there, it\'s going to be visibly red, there could be puss and even skin loss. But it was injected deeper, with a cannula. The Silikon1000 is injected much more superficially and according to Prof Lemperle, can migrate into the skin.

You\'ve got to keep in mind, that prior to Dr C introducing the smooth finish procedure, using silicone, we had tons of members who had just PMMA and we\'ve had lots since. There were complications among them, but nothing like we\'ve seen with Miracle and Fatmike. I\'m so angry with myself for getting S1000, as when Loria came along, I actually warned people to avoid him because I was aware of how vicious sclerosing lipogranulomas are and therefore silicone should be avoided.

I\'d worry if there was clear evidence of this kind of thing happening due to PMMA, but you are just causing yourself undue stress by worrying because there is no clear evidence that it can\'t. If someone comes along and reports their shaft skin is dying and they\'ve only had PMMA, then have a bit of a worry. But at the moment we\'ve got tons of progress reports, spanning an 8-9 year period and this has never occurred. What better research resource could you possibly hope to find than that?

Agree with that. Will be a happy man if I can live life with only my lump and nodules. The question still remains tough. Is there any PMMA filler that is approved in the EU? And if so does such a list contain Metacrill?
