Hi,

I'm new to this board but I've been reading scientific papers on PMMA for the last 5 to 10 years. Last week, I decided to attend a scientific meeting in San Diego in a couple of weeks. Since I'm from Montreal and the options here for Girth enhancement are scarce, I decided to get an appointment with Dr M. in Tijuana while being on that professional travel. I must say that the before/after pics posted by the members here are quite convincing.

However, as the days go by, I'm getting more nervous because I don't have "plan B's" if something goes wrong when I'm back here. I'm 3000 miles away from Tijuana so returning there immediately if something bad happens is not an option for me. What happens if I get big and uncomfortable granulomas? What happens if I need to remove the newly formed tissue? What if my wife finds my new penis uncomfortable because of these bumps? What if I need intralesional steroids? What am I going to tell to a local Urologist? Is he going to judge me and refuse treating me?

At the moment, I can't find reasonable answers to these questions and I think I should cancel the appointment. I don't think that I'm overthinking because any medical procedure has risks and we all know that PMMA has real risks that are documented in the scientific literature. Let me cite the author of a recent paper: "I do think that any PMMA product should be used with caution. Having had two patients who required surgical excisions after numerous attempts at intralesional steroids and 5FU, I would not use this product lightly. I think it is critical to fully inform patients of all complications of PMMA products, and it is important to note, although these are rare, some cases may not be easily or ever fully cured."

Cohen, S. R. (2020). Invited Discussion on: PMMA Safety for Facial Filling: Rates of Granuloma Occurrence and Treatment Methods. Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 44(1), 160-161.

Any thoughts?

You left out what if you get hit by a car walking into the airport.....

My point is that I think you are being a wee bit paranoid. There are risks with everything in life. Take a deep breath and relax. Yes, all of the things you listed is possible. But this is a procedure that has been performed thousands of times. You have picked one of the, if not THE top clinic in the world to do it at. The risk of the things you listed are extremely low. Highest risk from your list is (in my opinion) is going to be granulomas. But even with that, having "big and uncomfortable" granulomas, or granulomas your wife finds uncomfortable is going to be pretty low. I would guess that probably 99.9% of the people that have done PPMA return for a second session. During that session, if you do happen to have any irregularities that are of concern, they can be addressed.

You have taken the time to look at people's pictures. I say take a little more time and see how many people have commented on their granulomas and what the outcome was. That may help put your mind at ease.

Deep breath my friend....Namaste

I agree with timid. I’m headed back for my second session in three days. The first session I would assume is always the most stressful. I am much more relaxed heading into my second session. Avanti Derma is great and that’s where I’ve had and am having my PMMA done. Just be real with yourself if this procedure is the right thing for you. If you don’t feel comfortable then cancel the appointment. But like timid said there have been thousands of guys that have had it done. Nothing is perfect but you will be in GREAT hands with Avanti Derma and Dr Morales.

I wouldn’t freak out. All will most likely be okay and you’ll be thankful for your results.

Can't wait for my second round. Sure, there are imperfections from the 1st round, but I'm way happier with my current result than if I did nothing. I think when it comes to PMMA, it's a money thing. You can "fix" anything that may be less than perfect, if you have the money to go back. If so, don't worry. Just go and do it. If you think you need a "perfect" penis like God gave you, don't go. I did enough research before I went to know that a second round, maybe even 3rd round could be required to get my "perfect" penis (size + aesthetic goals). after PMMA.

There are imperfections but nothing I wouldn't do all over again. Like I said, I'm already going back for round 2.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. I think I was getting anxious about the procedure because I don't intend to fly there in the next year or so no matter what happens. I know this is a procedure that requires multiple visits and I think my mindset is not there yet. Also, I have two young kids and some upcoming expenses for the house so I think this appointment and the fact that there "might be" some minor complications was the straw that broke the camel's back.

If I'm being truthful to myself, I think that procedure is not in my priority list right now. Still, I must say that some results I saw here are quite remarkable and I hope being able to really make the move someday!

It sounds like you’re making the right choice. Take your time and do the procedure when it’s convenient time wise and financially. I lurked around on PhalloBoards for years before I pulled the trigger. Do what’s best for you.
