We have quite extensive experience with penile inflatable implants and
PMMA.
As a matter of fact, our "Patient One", who received our first
PMMA penile enhancement back in September 2007 had the implant surgically inserted years after he finished his rounds with the injectable soft tissue filler. Thirteen years after his
PMMA rounds and probably 10 or so years after his IC implant, he is healthy and has a normal life.
We also have worked in a number of patients with their inflatable implants in place.
When deciding on getting any kind of surgery in an area that has been treated with
PMMA (penis, face or other), please make sure that your surgeon contacts your injector and that the first one understands
PMMA.
@Skeptical One has mentioned a very sad story that involves a young, healthy guy, and silicone oil misrepresented as
PMMA... one portion of this story has been published on YouTube without even knowing or investigating the facts... false information, real complications.
I had a phone conversation with the victim and here is my version of the story:
A friend of his came to
Avanti Derma (for real
PMMA) and he was happy to recommend us to his friends, the victim included.
A few months later, the victim decides to take action, but he did not go back to the source. Instead, he searched for "
PMMA-Tijuana" on the internet and ended up in a practice that uses silicone oil under the false name of "
PMMA". He got a very high dose of silicone oil, and (of course) he was devastated by the results.
Then, in an attempt to correct this, he goes to an ED specialist in the US (I missed the details for this decision) and tells him that he got
PMMA and penile lengthening from "a guy from Tijuana" that picked him at the airport. The doctor takes that information verbatim and (again, I am missing the details for the next decision) ends up implanting the intracavernosal pump into the victim's penis while making a YouTube video titled "
Penile implant after failed PMMA injection in Mexico".
What is not publicized after this video is that the substance was not
PMMA and that the implant got infected not once but twice and had to be extracted leaving the young guy with a penis and scrotum filled up with silicone oil, and
no corpora cavernosa!!! Needless to say, no corpora cavernosa means that there is no way that the patient will have another natural
Erection in his life; an irreversible surgical procedure.
These series of mistakes ended up ruining a healthy guy who was trying to enhance the looks of his otherwise normal penis.
Another (much less severe) consequence has been the fact that the video delivers the false idea that this accident was created by
PMMA and bashes Tijuana
again.
