Yesterday was the day. After a few months of planning, I had surgery with Dr Liu for an alloderm graft and some filler. Pretty easy. Only slight discomfort.

Some things I wasn’t prepared for-
He put a drain in, so I had to go back today to have it removed. Worked out cuz I had them change the dressing and give me another lesson. Be prepared for an extra day.
The dressing is huge. Kind of like a squishy doorknob. Be prepared to sport that for 5 weeks. Luckily they used green and red tape so it looked like an Xmas ornament.
You get this funky belt to apply compression just above the incision. A little uncomfortable and not very attractive. Good thing it’s only for a week.
There’s a pretty good med list that goes with this. Antibiotics, steroids (cream and oral), and an anti fungal pill. Nothing too over the top, but you got to be a good boy and take your medicine.

Now for the details- I was there for four hours, but the procedure only lasted for an hour. All done under local anesthesia, and the shots were painless. After that we moved to the surgery room and the work began. They hide their work from you, which is for the better. I don’t think I would have been happy watching. I only got to see my side of a blue drape, but they chatted with me and kept me entertained. Mostly painless. Apparently there are some sensitive areas that he local anesthetic just doesn’t cut it. Felt like someone poking a nail into my Dick. Only a few times and the pain was instantly gone. They do a good job of minimizing any discomfort. After the deed was done I got a quick peek (prior to the Xmas wrapping). I was on my back so I didn’t see much, but what I did see was pretty fat and purple. Impressive. Drove home and pretended to be normal. Slept well. Only woke up once with a stinging pain, but it wasn’t unbearable and left fairly quick.

I got another peek today. Not much bruising other than near the incision. Not sure what to think about the look. Guess time will tell. I haven’t heard of anyone disappointed in the results, so we shall see.

Overall great experience. Dr. Liu and his staff are great. He does just filler as well, but I was looking for something other than filler. Unfortunately there just are not that many people that have shared heir experience. To those that have I thank you. Your stories and your willingness to answer questions helped me a lot. I will share mine also.

Any questions feel free to ask. More to follow

Day 4- finally got to shower. All is going well other than some mild discomfort. I got to unwrap and look when I showered. Not too much bruising, no big lumps, but some swelling up towards the glans. It looks very disproportionate, like the end of a hotdog in a bun. Not really the look I was going for. Hopefully it looks better when the swelling goes down. We shall see.

Purely out of curiosity what’s the point of the graft if you’re putting layers of PMMA on top of it? Why not just do an extra layer of PMMA and avoid this super invasive surgery?

Traditionally the idea of the dermal graft is that it is a "one & done" procedure that gives ample Girth, that in theory will yield more uniform results (due to the graft itself being precision tailored for each individual shaft, free of contour irregularities that would otherwise lead to nodules, etc.) -- this yield is usually in the 0.75" (give-or-take) range and quite frankly, more than sufficient to get most men in the certifiably thick category.

The PMMA (or any legit Dermal Filler) is a nice re-assurance to have for those who either had a specific goal in mind to hit -OR- wouldn't mind just a tad more without necessarily having to acquire it over what can take multiple years depending on logistics, etc. In other words, the goal is to have the foundation (implanted graft) provide for what many is a game-changer without the need for much of a follow-up (other than checking the health of the implant after the end of the presumed recovery period), and fillers just happen to be an added bonus in that it can be paired if necessary, if that makes sense.

My understanding is the filler evens things out since the grafts can be uneven. It also smoothes out the edge of the graft. To be honest the surgery is pretty easy. I have had worse experiences at the dentist, and none of those were really bad.

I'm interested on this surgery but i am afraid of the loss of length that people talk about grafts. Hope things go well for you.

Things have gone really well. No real pain to speak of other than painful erections the first few nights. Even those were not so bad. No complications as far as I know. It’s all been pretty easy. No bruising other than the incision site, but that’s really small now. Can’t say anything about length since I’m early in the process, but there’s reported it all comes back in a few months. I’m hoping that’s the case.

10 days out. Swelling has gone down. No bruising. Pretty happy. Good time for a before and after. I can feel the edge of the alloderm and the glans looks small. Stitches out on Monday, so I’ll ask then.

Despite being tailored precision for your shaft (the Length x Width), it's still a 3 dimensional implant, and while its depth is relatively uniform, at surface level there can be minor variations (since these are cadavers from once living tissue and not a synthetic silicone material). However, when I said they would be free of contour irregularities, I should have been more clear as to say that they are not nearly as "Nodule-prone" as fillers, and on top of that, whatever contour irregularities that do come of the procedure are far more predictable requiring typically less filler to fix -versus- fillers that can (for some guys) be a bit unpredictable (irrespective of Injector technique or filler type), and require multiple visits to get right.

Not knocking fillers (heck, I have them myself), but I wanted to be sure I didn't provide misinformation. The appeal of grafts are that they provide much more certainty in terms of gains and aesthetics versus fillers. If someone might ask, well if that's the case, why doesn't everyone get grafts? -- well that's because the graft procedure is surgical (and thus more invasive with a longer recovery time) versus a filler that is an outpatient non-surgical procedure with a much quicker recovery time. They both have their pros & cons and there is no #1 King of the Hill procedure in this area of aesthetic medicine.

Stitches out today. Good thing cuz they were starting to itch. Doctor says it looks good. He must have a better eye than me, or maybe because it’s different for me to look at. We shall see in a few weeks. Everything has been good so far. No real pain other than the first few nights, and even then it wasn’t horrible.
