Hello everyone. I'm posting here because I got 10+ syringes of Bellafill the other day and have been having serious regrets because of the anxiety it has been causing me. Before anyone says "everything has a risk", I understand that, did my research, and did not feel any real worries until I walked out of Dr Rupekas office, but have had anxiety symptoms in the past. Now the reddit users who bring up certain points on Bellafill is causing me a real high amount of anxiety to the point of a literal panic attack and researching Removal. I am sitting here thinking why did I do this? I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or found or has any points or info that could possibly give me some piece of mind? This is the only place I am really comfortable asking this, my husband is not overly concerned but he has had other work done and this is new for me. The main things I've read that are worrying me :PMMA carcinogen/cancer ?
PMMA is foreign to body- immune system issues, long term inflammation?
Learning of PMMA/Bellafill health negatives in future as time goes on.

Ok, take a deep breath first .

I currently have ha and intend to go pmma . Prior to making that decision I researched extensively looking for issues or problems. Pmma is used in eye surgery, bone cement, joint replacement, and a plethora of other in body uses to include fillers as we are discussing.

Medical studies go back over 15 years to include fillers (facial in this case). With the long term “negatives” being listed as nodules in 3.3% of cases in a 15 year follow up study.

Pmma has along medical history and truly minimal noted negatives.

Because you suffer from anxiety, you should take an afternoon, break out your google-fu and read at least 20 medical studies on pmma, Read them for ALL medical uses of pmma, with the understanding that your use as a filler is studied but you want the whole picture.

I would add that Reddit, while a data point, also has convincing arguments that the world is run by lizard people, and convinced folks that the “OK” hand gesture was racial in nature, so take it with a grain of salt.

A little apprehension post procedure ( any surgical or cosmetic procedure really) IS normal, but if you’re in fairly good health it is not going to be the issue you think it is.

You had a safe profile filler installed as opposed to silicone or other non medical filler. Outside of emergency approval , the FDA has a pretty difficult and expensive process for approval and they get it right the vast majority of the time. Even silicone, and I agree with skeptical here and am VERY thankful for this board for it , should NOT be used as a filler, BUT for the 100 or so reports of negative outcomes, there are thousands of folks on body modification forums with massive amounts ( over 1 liter) long term (10-20 years) with no ill effects other than not fitting pants. This is NOT an endorsement of silicone in ANY way, it is used merely to point out that as humans we tend to focus on negative outcomes.

Put another way, there are roughly 100,000 flights daily, we have heard about issues on around 5 flights in the last month and it’s big news ( admitted so for those on that flight). But 5 issues that made the new out of roughly 3 MILLION flights. We are entering stuck by lightning, winning a lottery odds.

So take a breath, it’s going to be OK

A couple of quick info studies, there are TONS more out there.

Thank you so much for this thorough and informative response. I definitely should have done more research beforehand. I basically did only about a week's worth of and decided "Bellafill seems to be the way to go let's do it." So that is something I need to improve on as well. I think the concept of permanence and a lifelong ongoing inflammatory response freaked me out the most, but I don't think that is actually the case. I am going to relax, and do exactly what you said and read the links you sent. Thank you for including those and look forward to hearing about your experience.

First and foremost, all elective medical procedures (especially cosmetic in nature) are not without risk, and they are called elective because they are not necessary for your welfare or health. Even if everything were to go as planned and the procedure (and its associated materials like a filler) worked 100% safety & effectively, it wouldn't rule you out from the possibility of post-op infections you can acquire through a trip at any Clinical setting, despite it being rather uncommon (hence why most facilities maintain sterile settings, use rubbing alcohol prior to injection, and often prescribe antibiotics post-op as a preventative measure).

I also want to implore anyone considering these procedures that have a history of depression, anxiety -- or -- those hypercritical of aesthetics or hypochondriac of "symptoms," ought to reconsider doing any sort of elective procedure.

All that said, to put your mind at ease, this forum has been following the use of PMMA for penile enhancement since almost as early as its inception (circa 2010), and its efficacy has been quite demonstrable through sample size alone.

PMMA is not a known carcinogen and its been FDA approved for use to correct/enhance nasolabial folds and has been used off-label for other areas of enhancement (which is legal).

The inflammatory response comes with the territory and is partly responsible for what helps prompt your body to wall off the PMMA (hence collagen formation) in the first place. This inflammation by and large seems subtle with respect to long-term presence, and typically flares (i.e. increases in size due to mild swelling) when aggressive physical force is applied to the penis (e.g. aggressive masturbation or penis pumping). For me personally, at no time did I tell myself I needed to get a prescription for anti-inflammation because in the 13 years I've had it in me, it's never posed a problem (and I forget it's even there with each passing month and year).

That all said, 10+ syringes is quite modest at best, you have a low volume of PMMA in your skin, presenting even less inflammation than those who have had considerably more over time.

If you aren't comfortable with long-term inflammation, you can seek to augment you shaft through lesser inflammatory materials like Hyaluronic Acid (HA), but those will require annual top-offs -- versus the permanency of PMMA -- and that's sort of the trade off.

In a nutshell, you'll be fine. :)

I’m glad to help brother, this can be a nerve wracking situation, however in the short form ( no pun intended)

In fillers , PMMA is “walled off/ encapsulated” by collagen , it fact that is the mechanism by which your growth occurs and is the desired short term inflammatory response.

. Even in massive amounts of PMMA ( you don’t have that, we have a guy on the board with somewhere between 120-160ml which equates to 70-90 ml of pure PMMA) that still isn’t having a persistent inflammatory response. Once it’s walled off, it’s walled off, if damage occurs, minor inflammation to “fix the wall” will occur”

Probably the most important thing to do now is take collagen peptide supplements , it isn’t going to go directly to your Dick, and the majority of it will be excreted from the body , but you’re ensuring that the body has all the building blocks needed to rapid healing without pulling from other sources in the body.

Bellafill has a slow carrier absorption rate, so 6-8 weeks of collagen sups should cover absorption of carrier and subsequent collagen replacement.

While I didn’t stay in a Holiday Inn last night, and I am not a recognized member of the medical community except in the most obscure way. I did spend some year s working in hard sciences and was in the upper part of the NIST and NBS traceability chain, so calculating risk from data is second nature.

Have a great day, and enjoy the new tool you’ve been given to work with.

Looks like skeptical beat me to the punch lol!

Thank you. I will say my mind feels more at ease now.

I think the study on cancer where I saw it was a "possible" carcinogen was one with orthopedic surgeons who worked regularly with it vs regular ones who don't use it frequently. Probably not super applicable here, so my mind went my towards the negative aspects of long term inflammation. Thank you for your in depth response. I also did order collagen, so I'll be taking that as well.

Bigger picture you are completely right, anxiety prone individuals should think about this sort of thing very carefully. I also think I left the place already very anxious because I had blood coming out of my tip, he basically brushed it off and said well "hm, your anatomy might be slightly different so the urethra could have gotten a poke, it will be ok but expect a little blood the next time or two you urinate." He was right, it was barely anything when I went, just a little bit at the start of flow and stopped after two urinations. I think that's why when he was poking there with numbing agent it was pretty damn painful, which he seemed surprised by. So there's a heads up to anyone, that is a possible thing that can happen.

I came here to say exactly this. Once it's encapsulated in collagen the inflammatory response is over. If damage to the collagen occurs and more PMMA is exposed, another temporary inflammatory response will occur. Then go away.
Obviously lifelong chronic inflammation is bad, hell, I'm one of those weird "no seed oils" people moving mountains to fly across the country to get plastic jammed into my Dick. But unless my understanding of how collagen encapsulation works changes, I'm good with this.
There are still WWII vets (albeit not many) walking around with shrapnel and bullets in their bodies. They've likely dodged the worst evils of chronic inflammation because their bodies have walled it off.
I'm way more worried about Crisco and microplastics in my food than this. Or non-grass-fed beef, or glyphosate, or...yeah, any way, once it's walled off it's walled off, only, walled off in a way that makes your Dick awesome.
