TOPIC: Red area on skin after procedure

Hi guys.

I ve had a touch up 3 weeks ago and started noticing a red area on my skin 3 days after procedure.

The redness has not gone away till today and also the reddish skin looks different, like its drying out.

Did this ever occur to anyone? Any suggestions?

Checkout Mikehok"s PMMA odyssey thread positive he was also concerned with redness.

Mikehok used a steroid cream and it went away quickly. If you want I'll give him a call and ask what it's called.

I agree with Hoddle that is no way Necrosis .. This redness can happen with any PMMA products even with Artefill ( around 1.4%) and in some cases this redness can stay > 1 month usually with itcheness and possibly near to the entry holes.

It seems to me this redness is not warm or painful ??

No, not warm or itching but I feel that in this area something is going on...or maybe it is just because of the look that I think that I feel sth...

I got a reply from the doc, she thinks it is an infection and recommends using an antibiotic, azitromicin500, e.g. Zitromax and use a cream ( Bactroban ) don t think I can get those without prescription though...

Hey olafspo, I've been into the whole PE thing for over 12-13 years now. I know how hard it is to deal with complications. You are in very good hands here with these people and this board. I'm hoping the best for you and if you ever have any questions or just want to talk, just private message me. I remember the times after surgery where things are not totally right and it can be very scary. Hang in there and everything is going to work out.

This is very weird....I got the exact same thing on my shaft after my last session with Dr C. It itches and it almost feels like a skin infection, almost like jock itch or ring worm. It is on two different areas on the shaft. If it persists, I will start another round of Anti biotics even though I had completed the anti biotics that Dr C provided.

I don't think it is an infection (but anyway you should listen to your treating doctor, it is always better to be safe), it is actually due to incorrect placement of the product ( i.e. injected superficially "shallow dermis" ) ---> long-term itchiness and redness ; check this e.g. about an Artefill it was mentioned :-

" Generally, injectable PMMA is well tolerated, although long-lasting itchiness and redness can occur with incorrect placement of the material (i.e. if injected into the shallow dermis).

I have the same redness right now. I'm trying straight Aloe Vera gel.

I also have some swelling that you don't seem to have... but the redness looks exactly like mine.

Let me know if you try the steroid cream and it works... I'll keep ya updated on my use of Aloe Vera.
