TOPIC: pmma after pgla

pmma after pgla 12 years 4 months ago #1274559820

Hi,just wondering if anyone has has PMMA after having pgla scaffolds?
I had the pgla scaffolds about 5/6 months ago and not too happy with the results.
I am thinking of going for PMMA in prague and wanted to know how long should i wait before having it done?
The scaffolds are still hardish and wanted to know if it was ok to go soon, or wait untill they have completely absorbed?
Appreciate any thoughts and experiences on this....
Regards

Yes, I know of two members who have had scaffolds and then PMMA. One is Mikehok and the other is Londonlad.

You need to wait at least 9 months, so you can be sure the scaffolds are fully dissolved.

Please could you tell us more about your scaffold procedure. Who did it, what gains have you made and were there any other complications? We still get plenty of guys asking about this procedure, despite the fact very few have had success with it.

How did you come to the decision to have the scaffold procedure?

Actually it looks as if another member also had PMMA after the scaffolds:

Had it done at sava with Dr djinovic,Had scaffolds only, decided not to go for ligs. cut(am 6\" el and 5\"fl so was nt sure to or not and one of his team persuaded me not to bother with it ).Dr dj was pretty relaxed and all staff nice, not the newest of med facilities but all in all not too bad of an experience ,cost 6k euros for proceedure. All went well and did not even need any pain killers the day after the op.
No complications to date, all has healed well.
Post op pumping twice daily for 6 months gets a bit much, and the gains get smaller by the week.
Now 5 1/2 months and Still feels like a thin layer of scaffold yet to be absorbed running the full length,so still going to lose some more but currently at about 1 ish cm gain.Better than nothing but will see in a few more months the end results. But i do want more gain than that.
Pgla scaffolds Seemed like the best option available at the time after doing research? But to be honest i only heard of the PMMA injections after the op.(obviously not enough research !).
From all that i have read on the forums, PMMA appears to be the best way to go
How did mikehok and londonlad compare the two proceedures/results?
Keen to know how anyone else got on-PMMA after pgla? Want to get the PMMA asap but will wait a few more months if needs be.

Neither Mikehok or Londonlad made gains from the scaffold surgery. I had it also and didn\'t gain either. The most anyone seems to gain is 1cm and that doesn\'t seem to happen often. It\'s a total con if you ask me. At the old MNS forum there were 2 posters named Candybar and Caligula. They didn\'t gain either. The guy I went to Serbia with did gain about 1cm. There was an Aussie guy called Bonehead who gained 1/4 cm, but then went back for a 2nd procedure and it was a disaster. For the money they charge the results are appalling.

I did send dr c in mexico an email asking him about it,he said he has performed the PMMA on some patients that have had pgla and it didnt really matter if the scaffolds have totally absorbed/softened or not and that the PMMA has no effect on the absorbing process of the pgla,i did sent dr n a simlar email to see what she thinks.
I think you are right and won t hurt to wait a while longer and so far agree the pgla seems like alot of money/hassle for what you get after it all.

They have to dissolve. Don\'t listen to Dr C. After my scaffold surgery, part of the top scaffold formed around a lump of fat (I had FFT previously) and it created a hard Nodule that had to be cut out. The same could easily happen if you have FFT before the scaffolds fully dissolve.

I don\'t want to criticize Dr C, as he\'s very well respected and liked by many of our members, but it annoys me when he says stuff like this and it concerns me. He didn\'t even know the PLGA Scaffolds were when Mikehok had PMMA. So I find it very difficult to believe he suddenly knows how they behave partially dissolved. I\'ve got to say there are quite often things that Dr C and his team have said that don\'t fill me with confidence.

Never rely on a PE doctor to decide whether you are a good candidate. There criteria is based on your ability to hand over $$ and has very little to do with your medical condition.
