TOPIC: Fat Pad Lipo vs Hidden Penis Surgery (Gary Alter)

Hi all,

I have a large congenital fat pad that is not correlated with my body fat % (confirmed by Dr. Jane Chung in SJ and Dr. Gary Alter in LA). AKA, losing more body fat % won\'t do much to my fat pad. This could be resolved with a simple fat pad lipo (quoted by Dr. Chung at $6K)

In addition, I have an overly aggressive Circumcision and minor scrotal webbing that Dr. Alter says will cause my penis to be hidden even if I get fat pad lipo. His procedure is quoted at $20K.

Does anyone with an aggressive Circumcision / webbing have experience with fat pad lipo? Will it resolve the problem without having to suture the penis like Dr. Alter does in his procedure? It\'s a difference of $13K.

Get pubic lipo in TJ for a couple of grand. If it doesn\'t do the trick then consider the other procedures. You\'ll save money either way. YOu could even get the scrotal webbing done in Mexico at the same time.

Any recommendations for TJ doctors that do pubic lipo?

I would recommend Dr. Morganstern in Atlanta. He can do all 3 of those procedures. I am pretty sure his price will be much less then Dr Alter.

You can have the fat pad lipo done by a number of doctors for much cheaper. The scrotal webbing procedure should be covered by insurance. Just go see a Urologist that performs the surgery and make sure they use the same Z-plasty technique that Alter does (don\'t make the mistake I made of getting a linear procedure done which only makes things worse).

So I did some research on buried penis, and Dr. Alter was definitely correct that in my case, just a fat pad lipo is not enough - it requires a surgical correction. I\'m now researching other options.

Did you have buried penis surgery done? I\'m having a tough time finding a Urologist that performs this surgery to be honest. There has to be a reason Alter is known for this procedure... it doesn\'t seem to be a commonly performed procedure by urologists.

Yeah it is high, but since I\'ve made this thread, I did research and found the answer to my question - YES, there are steps to correct buried penis beyond just a fat pad removal. Tacking sutures are needed in the pubic area and in the scrotal area (see here www.altermd.com/hidden-penis-examples/ ).

So my original comparison of $6k vs $20k is not accurate. I\'m currently shopping around; Dr. Mark Solomon does the full procedure for $8k. I\'m setting up a consultation with him. But to be honest, $12k more for a doctor of Dr. Alter\'s caliber is not breaking the bank for me.
