TOPIC: Fatality involving enlargement surgery

No as far as I\'m aware it\'s only fat.

Could embolism have been due to use of needles, as Reklaw is suggesting? Is it possible with a cannula? Can a thing like this happen with Ellanse? Wow!!!

No - it was fat embolism. FFT is the highest risk cosmetic procedure for serious complications - like death.

As far as I know liposuction can cause a release of bits of fat into blood vessels and this may clog them. I think this is what happened to the guy. This is why many doctors give you eparine injections for 5-7 days.

Ah that is a very sad article... god bless him. His family are now probably thinking why the f##k was he doing this.

I think it\'s more likely that some of the fat got into his bloodstream during the injection process which made its way to the or lungs which caused a blood clot, it\'s probably a result of poor injection technique, it wouldn\'t suprise me if he used a needle instead of a cannula.

I\'ve spoke to Ian Eardley since him and Kevan Wylie co wrote that paper about PLGA Scaffolds, he now says that plga Scaffolds are no better than fat injection, but I think some of our members who\'ve had it have known that for a long time.

They did suspensory ligament division first, then FFT at same time surgery. Open surgery apparently increases the risk of fat embolism by opening veins. Fat causes this specific and bad reaction in the lungs. I assume Ellanse has not been tested for injection into the lungs - so I don\'t think it is medically established.
With Calibre technique using blunt cannula, and being very gentle ( vs what I have seen with fat transfer) I would be difficult to get it into a vein.
