I do Testosterone replacement therapy due to low T, and I get my PSA checked every 3 months. I also get my CRP, which is a measure of systemic inflammation, checked the same. My CRP is consistently .04 or less, which is basically no inflammation detected in my entire body. And my PSA baseline was 1.0, which is low. It has actually dropped to .8, AFTER PMMA.
So, no prostate issues, and no inflammation. And I\'ll be 44 this year. Granted I stay in good shape, never smoked, and eat healthy. But if a person doesn\'t take care of themselves, eats garbage, gets PMMA done, then gets cancer, is the PMMA really to blame??

The swelling issue only becomes problematic with large amounts of PMMA, which has become more and more common over the years. After the first couple of sessions I barely had any noticeable swelling regardless of the amount of situation. But now after even minimal stimulation I\'ll notice swelling the next day. Basically if your conservative in your goals it\'s a non-issue, but go large and it likely will become a problem.

So I was wondering how many people here have had PMMA and then subsequently had their PSA\'s checked/Prostate checked? Since many of us are younger than the age in which doctors check our prostate, I hope we\'re not walking around with a potential problem.

I did my procedures in 2015. I go to a urologists twice a year because I do TRT. He checks my PSA\'s every visit, and prostate once a year. Never even raised an eyebrow on either. Or on visual inspection.

This thread and the one on swelling have put little thorns in my decision for PMMA. The product has been used for a long time and is well documented - are these concerns new or have they been dealt with before? Any enlightenment on the outcome of research or experiences please ...

Thanks Mustang! That\'s all I wanted. Just for those that have done it to post their findings here. Just maybe to see if there could be a correlation. I\'m sure there isn\'t at all but Darkstaff\'s situation left a scintilla of doubt in my head.

I know PMMA is not a carcinogen but the inflammation is what I was thinking could cause something. I guess penis cancer would be the concern if that was the case to the prostate.

I have had a PSA test done about 18 months ago with no problems. So far no serious problems with PMMA in anyway.
I plan to do another test soon and will keep you posted.

These kind of threads are riddled with a neurotic, hypochondriac way of thinking. You should be scanning yourself for prostate cancer because you are a man, especially if you are entering your latter years. The idea that you\'ve had PMMA injected to you, something not considered a carcinogen, and you somehow now equate this process with the need to check your prostate is indicative of the fact that you should have never approached Phalloplasty to begin with.

What\'s next, you\'re losing hair because of your PMMA? Ear infection, maybe it\'s PMMA?

It\'s still a complete unknown. PMMA (artefill) is FDA approved in the USA and people have it in their face and bone. Not near the quantity that we have in our penises but it\'s a good sign that it shouldn\'t cause cancer. The inflammation aspect is just something to be aware. I just hope to get some more replies from people that have been checked after penis PMMA. Good luck with your research and decision.

Thanks a lot nej. I think your explanation IS a \"weighting factor\" and I could be on the fence again ...

I\'m having my prostate checked to make sure I have no cancer.. After reading more about inflammation and how it can cause cancer, I figure it would be prudent to check since PMMA causes constant inflammation in my penis. Not one person has replied that they have gotten their prostate checked after getting PMMA. The one person that I can confirm got his prostate checked after PMMA is darkstaff. He had cancer. Maybe they are not related whatsoever but there is a correlation. I\'m sure at this point there are thousands that have had PMMA penis injections. If only we had more data of people getting checked a year or two after the procedure. I\'m sure it\'s not a direct cause, but still enough for me to worry a bit.

Right now, I\'m on a steady regime of applying DMSO to soften the implant and hopefully keep me from having it removed. I know having it removed is a last option so I will try this for as long as possible.

Nej, please enlighten this guy who is not very intelligent.

You will remove your PMMA because of the nodules and hard spots, yes? These were caused by \"too much\" PMMA injected, yes? Now, why are you having your prostrate checked?

I\'ve already made up my mind about what procedure I\'ll do, so I read most of these threads out of interest only. However, it\'s still possible for something in these threads to be a \"weighting factor\" in an overall decision - please enlighten ...

Hey NEJ, I really would not worry about PMMA and prostate cancer. The schedule for childhood vaccines is the same schedule for the first appearance of symptoms for autism. I completely get why a parent who takes their child to get a vaccine and then has signs of autism show up in their child a few months to a year later thinks the 2 are related but they are not. It is a given that of the large pool of men who will get prostate cancer there is a tiny subset who also have had PMMA, also unrelated.

The correlation between PC and men is age, not PMMA. I believe DS is of the age where PC cancer appears as am I. If a couple guys in their 20\'s and 30\'s from this board started getting diagnosed with it then I would be concerned. Outside of that, every guy on here is walking around with a potential problem as we are all susceptible to PC at a certain age - some of us more than others. I am at the age where I should be getting checked for this regularly myself.

NEJ, sorry to hear that you are unhappy enough with your PMMA to think about having it removed, but totally get why you might if you feel like your Dick is depressing you. I went through the same thing with my grafts and it was about 4 years from the time I noticed they had died to the point where I had them taken out and had a few months healing under my belt. It is such big deal trying to weigh the possible outcomes against the \"knowns\" and I would go back and forth al the time. Too bad there is not a way to lipo this stuff out.

as i feel for darkstaff i do for all men it is certainly possible imho PMMA could cause PC but i feel that a person may have a higher probability than others. it\'s inevitable as men we develop PC, different ages for different people as well as the severity of the disease. if we look at breast cancer in woman, it was once thought that implants caused BC.

\"80 percent All men are at risk for developing prostate cancer. About one man in six will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, but only one man in 36 will die of this disease. About 80 percent of men who reach age 80 have prostate cancer cells in their prostate.\"web md
