These are my opinions from reading everything I can in journals and in patient experiences (though 99% is in the face, not the penis).
Is cannula definitely superior to needle or doesn\'t it matter?
The cannula is safer because you have a lower risk of embolism (injecting into a blood vessel and causing a blood clot and necrosis) than a needle. You bruise less too, but that\'s usually more of a concern with the face. It takes the risk of embolism from .5% to .00001%. IMO, proper technique with a needle will also lower the risk (aspirating, withdrawing as injecting, no use of excessive force). Needles are more precise in my opinion. Blunt tips on these cannulas do not allow easy \"navigation\" especially if you have existing stuff in there like old pmma or whatever. If you have an unaltered dick, then a cannula will be very easy to use. Doctors are mixed with their opinions on the new cannulas...some hate them and some love them - they can be creatures of habit.
Have we settled on which HA filler works best? juvaderm?
Juvederm Voluma is what Dr. Oates uses and has been shown to have the longest life and greatest thickness. Another doc in London (see below) also used it. So, that\'s why it is preferred, I think. I have wondered (but have no data) if thinner fillers like Juvederm ultra, restylane silk, or belotero balance would be better in circumcised guys in the distal end (the area near the head). I don\'t know, however. Maybe Dr. Oates has an opinion about that. I\'d be a little concerned that voluma would be too obvious in that thin skinned area. In the face, it is only supposed to go deep into the tissue. Belotero can go just under the skin, like silikon 1000 (which is not actually approved for filling, but people use it for that off label).
are you allowed to pump and jelq with HA in?
This hasn\'t come up to my knowledge. I wouldn\'t risk it just due to the cost/benefit. The benefit you\'re getting from pumping or JelQs won\'t be more than the HA, and you could screw up the HA placement (maybe). The face has much more tissue to hold the HA in place. The penis isn\'t as layered with muscle and fat. If Dr. Oates reads this, maybe he\'ll say it\'s fine. Y
does it feel normal or does it felt squishy/soft?
It has been reported both ways - some say it\'s indistinguishable from normal tissue and others do not like it and have dissolved it because they felt it was too unnatural.
Anyone experienced any real complications aside from nodules (which can be dissolved)?
Nobody has posted any problems like that. The biggest problem is that it didn\'t feel right.
Is there a complied database of who offers this (which filler, which city, etc) and who we think are the best 3-4 offering this? I would much prefer to go to someone who was well respected here. I live in Paris and travel to the US frequently.
Not really compiled by anyone yet, but a few names have come up on here for HA. There are a couple of reports, but not a ton. Here\'s one from London, which is probably the closest to you:
