What about Camphallo\'s ultrasound idea. Sounds like that might work.

I\'ve been thinking about why nodules form and my theory is that the water carrier is being absorbed before the body can produce sufficient collagen to cover up most of the PMMA, so after several days there is plain PMMA sitting under the skin with no buffer around it. Body movement then concentrates the PMMA in certain areas and collagen forms over these clumps resulting in a hard mass of compressed PMMA.

Good theory, Camp. The problem with it is that not all of these products have a water-based carrier that last only a few day. Some of them last much longer, yet they still clump. The trick may be to find a more suitable carrier, which prevents clumping. However, Camp is on the right track. If more of us make it a point to strive for product improvement, the industry will respond with better products much more quickly. We live in the information age, folks. If there is good enough public outcry for change, the industry will get the message much more quickly, and respond with change. Gone are the days where you have to suffer through bad products for many years. This problem doesn\'t just occur in the penis, as PMMA is prevalent in other bodily areas, with the same problems. Product manufacturers better start paying attention before PMMA gets crushed by products like HA, which will continue improving its longetivity, thus making it an even better alternative than it is now.

Camphallo\'s idea also got me thinking, I feel like instead of using a tool to take out the nodules, which would obviously be invasive and perhaps risky, if there was some way (like the ultrasound machine) to break up the Nodule so the body can naturally absorb it.

There are many different types of laser machines that specialize in certain specific things depending on frequency. Now I know all of you immediately are thinking \"No way am I taking a laser to my Dick\" but here me out. Laser surgery to break up pigmentation has a slight sting (cold air is blown on the area to numb the pain) and as soon as the laser stops, the pain is equivalent to that of a minor sun burn. A day or so later a small blister forms and eventually goes away, leaving the skin looking as if nothing happened. The laser is essentially going through the top layer of skin and breaking apart whatever is in the subcutaneous (bottom) layer of skin. Once broken apart by the laser, the body absorbs the foreign matter. It goes without saying that facial and body tissue are different than penile tissue, but I don\'t see how if refined it couldn\'t work the same way.

There is a laser made for getting rid of dermatofibroma, which roughy defined is: \"a common cutaneous Nodule of unknown etiology.\" so maybe that\'s an avenue worth exploring?

I do not work in the medical field, and haven\'t yet made the PMMA plunge, so if I\'m way off base here I apologize and do not want to come off as being an expert on something I\'ve only read about. I was just re-reading this thread (usually I start with \"latest topics\" ), and thought that maybe this idea might be worth sharing.

In my mind clumping takes two forms, the rock hard \'Nodule\' form and the liaised rubbery scar tissue \'islands\' that also can appear.

I think that all forms of PMMA used in large quantities in the penis run high risk of clumping in one form or the other or both.

My speculation is that free floating bovine carrier PMMA has less risk of \'noduling\' as the absorption rate is much slower allowing time for the body to grow its own collagen replacement. However, the chances of the PMMA shifting to other areas should be greater due to the fact that the rate that the PMMA is \'anchored\' to the insides of the penis is much slower.

Wouldn\'t \'poping\' these nodules out leave a small depression (crater) that would need to be re-filled?

Possible - especially if it was larger ie 5 - 10mm

Never used the US/ shock wave for kidney stones. Not seen/felt PMMA nodules - so not really sure what they are like compared to a stone. Our shock wave device is no way strong enough for that though. And not focused in that way.

That does sound reasonable. For a much less powerful/temporary stimulatory filler - Sculptra - they sorted the Nodule problem by diluting it out much more.

All of the nodules I had removed were packed with PMMA, so I agree with this. The higher concentration can risk the carrier dissolving before the immune system can surround all of that PMMA with cells. (with a lower concentration, it is not an issue). If the PMMA is uneven, then the majority of immune cells will wall off the entire PMMA clump. You can see immune cells here, but it\'s mostly PMMA. The beads should be spread much further apart and there should be more immune cells.

I\'d only go for 10 or 20% . The reason my 30% round with metacrill had no problems is because it also had no results at all, really. Linnea Safe, had \"true\" 30% (who knows what the metacrill even had...5% maybe) and my body was not ready for that. On top of this, there was an existing capsule of PMMA collagen, so my Dermatologist explained that it pushed the new filler out. The same thing happens with facial filler. When some women keep getting more and more and more - they run out of room - and the capsule of filler just expells the product into a Nodule (at the injection sites, in my case, since they were allowed to remain open like that). I think he should use smaller cannulas if he really wants to use 30% . This would double the time it takes, however...but it would also prevent the product from leaking out, as the holes would be sealed within an hour of the procedure so the clumps could not form there.

After some research and deeper thought, ultrasound won\'t work.

The PMMA in nodules aren\'t bonded to themselves, they are a mass of PMMA with a thin layer of rubbery collagen tightly encapsulating the lot. Example; Kidney stones are like a solid ball of rock and PMMA nodules are like handful of small pebbles tightly warped in cling film. The ultrasound will mostly pass through the collagen layer and just rattle the PMMA beads, achieving nothing.

If you wrapped it tightly enough it would appear to be rock hard.

The good thing is that the penis doesn\'t have bone in it so the ultrasonic waves won\'t do any significant damage to the tissue.

A way we could move forward is for someone to donate a lump of PMMA and have a cooperating doctor zap it with a suitable device. One thing to note though, PMMA bone cement is a homogeneous mass of the stuff, but PMMA nodules coming out of our dicks does have at lest some collagen/fibrotic tissue encapsulating the beads, so I\'m guessing the ultrasound waves won\'t be able to totally break down the Nodule into a consistent smooth paste. You\'ll probably land up with a few smaller chunks, some sand like particles and some paste.
