TOPIC: Best time to buy plane ticket? (How many weeks before)

Hey guys, currently I am sitting 8 weeks out from my final touch up procedure (to fix some irregularities etc)... In the past I have bought plane tickets well in advance and also as early as 3 or 4 weeks pre-procedure.Ironically the 3 or 4 weeks pre-procedure was the cheapest tickets I\'ve had so far BUT I also feel I got lucky that day. In your experience when is the best time to get tickets? From what I\'ve read online it seems 5 - 7 weeks before your trip but anyone have a \"sweet spot\" or know more than the average flyer?

Right at the middle of week 7 is supposed to be the sweet spot (day 54). There was an article about it.

Mmm so 7 weeks out now and tickets are actually about 6 - 7% higher than they were on week 8. (verified with TOR browser to insure there\'s no sneaky IP logging going on inflating prices for those who are keeping tabs... if I were expedia I\'d do it haha).

I will wait until next week unless prices drop back down to what they were before before the week\'s end.

Ah very good point DWD. Completely forgot about oil prices affecting airfare. I\'ll likely get my ticket this week... just have to wait a couple days for a visa switch I\'m doing... ironically to an aeroplan rewards type one.

Can\'t stand the price of gas right now... my car takes 91 octane and up only because of the turbo / type of engine... I\'m looking at nearly $1.50 / L at the pumps right now ($5.68 / gal).
