Hey guys,
My son has a small one, really below average.
He\'s 8 years old, and it\'s like 4 cm
Erect.
Flacid it\'s like 2,5-3 cm.
My other son is 2 years younger but has a much larger unit.
I think he has (or comes close to) a condition called micropenis (average length at that age is 6 cm +-0,9cm, so it\'s more then 2 standard deviations from the medium). I know, it may seem OK, but the contrast with children of his age is embarrassing to him, he doesn\'t want to go in the shower with them anymore.
I\'m quite worried about it; I always thought that part of having a small member is caused by a low testosteron production or sensitivity before and during puberty. I don\'t think he has a syndrome, he\'s just fine for the rest, although he\'s a bit less strong/active then most children his age. He\'s a sensitive boy, and has some concentration problems, but he\'s quite intelligent and social (and happy).
I know it\'s not uncommon to provide kids with this condition with a testosteron treatment, of course under doctor\'s supervision. I know the risks of this (ie. bone maturation) but they can be well contained by carefully checking the testosteron dosis.
Do any of you have experience with such treatments (yourself, family members, friends, ...) ?
Do they work ? What would you do in my place, would you wait with a possible treatment until he has reached puberty ?
I\'m going to see a specialist with him within some weeks, but any advice/second opinion/relevant experience would be really appreciated !
EDIT : have seen specialist, everything was perfectly OK...
