TOPIC: PMMA Doctors in the Northeast USA?

I\'m loving this site. There\'s so much information and support, it\'s really encouraging. At times inspiring even.

It seems like the more recent the PMMA experience the better they are, generally.

I\'ve emailed Dr C. and got an email back from Wade with just the basic information. It is probably going to take me over a year to build up the confidence to get this procedure done, if I ever do (fingers crossed).

Dr. C seems to be the star of the PMMA scene, but I\'m not sure I want to travel to Tijuana. I\'m wondering if someone has any recommended doctors in the Northeast USA who have a great track record?

Apparently it\'s not illegal. Patent laws mean it can\'t be legally imported into the US.

Basically Artes Medical hold the patent for the microspheres used in PMMA. So only their PMMA products are available in North America and these are too expensive to be used in Bioplasty and the carrier isn\'t right either.

You need a fast absorbing carrier and affordable type of PMMA to do this and as long as Artes hold the patent this wont happen.

Does anyone know the history and/or politics around why it is illegal in the US and Canada? Yes there\'s obviously some risk but that seems to be the case for most plastic surgeries. Additionally I thought I read that Metacril is legal for sale in the US, but I can\'t find the reference now.

Same goes for Canada brother... Dr. Camacho (can\'t rem the spelling) use to offer it in Toronto but it\'s no longer legal. I don\'t know if he did Phalloplasty but glutes though. Can\'t see it coming legal for several years if it ever does. I inquired awhile back. I\'m heading to Dr. C in TY in three weeks.

I cannot speak for Canada, but considering our Canadian members have made their way down south also, I would doubt it.

You won\'t find them in the US. That is why everyone crosses the border.
