Smartman, asbestos does not decay. It would be better if it did, it would eventually go away. It is a mineral/rock that does not go away and forever irritates the tissue it touches. Chronic inflammation over decades can lead to cancer in a small number of cases.

20-40 cc of PMMA in the penis gets vigourously rubbed during sex. That will lead to inflammation. The tissue will respond to that. That is different than 1 cc near the lip that gets no rubbing. IMHO you cannot compare PMMA in the lip or when used as bone cement as a comparison.

PMMA is not cancerous. However, PMMA can cause chronic inflammation that can lead to cancer. Therefore it is accurate to say that it is not a carcinogen but may cause cancer.

We still need to know more about long term effects and strategies to reduce inflammation/immune responses.

When I met with my Urologist today --- I told him I was worried about this thread, and inflammation leading to cancer.

Urologist response to me - \"That is a very valid concern\"

Musky is correct -- esp. for people like me that are having a serious inflammatory reaction to the PMMA.

@smartman, I saw a Dermatologist here in Austin who has had experience with PMMA. He told me that his patients are dealing with inflammatory responses many many years after getting them injected into their faces... and he expressed a deep concern for having it injected into my penis.

Additionally, I\'m flying out to see Dr. Gelman for a 2nd opinion on this whole thing in March.

My plan that my Urologist and I are marching down at this time is to remove the FBG by de-gloving the penis... then in a few months, to potentially do a round of alloderm. The reason we decided to go down this path now instead of later is that the mass has grown, and is now hardening to the point where it can be removed. The rest of the PMMA will stay in my penis -- and from a inflammation standpoint - hopefully in a dormant state

I hope this resolves on its own, sometimes time alone works. But if you get any sort of intervention - the best of luck.

And I should also point out, if you do end up getting degloved and worked on, you may want to consider opting out of Phalloplasty altogether. If your doctor expressed deep concerns with PMMA in your penis, don\'t you think he\'d share the same/similar concern with a more-invasive Alloderm or anything else inside your penis?

Your best bet would be to heal and focus on getting your health in order before contemplating any additional PE (or any PE at all). I\'m saying this in sincerity, seems like you have a lot going on, and future plans for PE ought be the last thing on your mind.

It is possible you could end up in the same boat with alloderm complications down the road, the last thing you need.

Did you discuss this with the surgeon, and is the same guy that is removing the FBG offering the alloderm implant? If so, I would be a little weary about following his advice due to the obvious conflict of interest.

Also it would be a good idea to ask Gelman about potential alloderm complications. Since him and Dr Alter probably have done more PE complication Revision work than anyone, they would be the best source of anecdotal info regarding long term safety.

Are you still having the swelling? Any pain or deformities?

This has nothing to do with PMMA and everything to do with nocturnal tumescence. Your body has been producing testosterone and other hormones during sleep. Nocturnal tumescence is natures way of protecting your organ. The process has nothing to do with physical nor psychological arousal.

Reducing stress and exercising have a tremendous impact on the quality of your erections. By being completely relaxed during coitus, you will achieve maximum engorgement of the copora cavernosum and glans. The slightest insecurity or doubt will reduce the size of your Erection.

I do not experience swelling during intercouse nor afterward, personally. I also limit ejaculation to twice per week for maximum T production. Oxytocin is not your friend. Men were not meant to bond; we are here to plant our seed in as many women as possible to ensure species survival. This is one reason married men, particularly with children (and performing a fatherly role) have lower overall T.
