TOPIC: Alloderm Graft Implant for Girth

Hello,

I\'m thinking about going forward with this surgery I\'m currently researching about Dr Mark Solomon in Philadelphia.

I\'ve read up this forum a lot and I couldn\'t find many examples or progress reports of people who underwent this surgery. It appears that up until recent years we\'ve had some FFT and then it switched to PMMA which has taken over massively as I think 95% of progress reports I read here have used this technique.

I\'ve read about the risks of going for stacked material and how easy it is for it to develop an infection. But from my reading my understanding so far is that for a more even result and if you\'re not desperate to gain a ton of Girth Alloderm graft might be the way to go. I have watched some videos of the procedure on the internet and though it looks very invasive the results seem amazing.

Am I missing something?
Because I feel that if this were the case PMMA wouldn\'t be so dominant in this forum as it is right now.

Any procedure that requires a consistent and healthy blood supply like Alloderm grafts, FFT, Dermal Grafts have a really bad track record and the grafts shrink, harden and die over time. Sometimes within the first months which is common or several years later. Alloderm also doesn\'t give you much Girth, it\'s very thin. Any doctor that says he stacks the grafts for more Girth does not know what he is talking about. The area where the 2 grafts touch each other is a breeding ground for bacteria and is not exposed to a blood supply which is crucial. Free fat gets lumps for similar reasons. Hope that helps.
