Yes, this is something I often advocated, especially on the 2.0 forums. This incremental
brick-laying as I called it was first promoted by Doctors who were doing
FFT (fat injections). The reason why most FFTs failed was due to overfilling. Not only would some of the fat fail to get an adequate blood supply, but the sheer volume would lead to inevitable aesthetic irregularity. So it was thought that by laying a foundation first, and building upon it with frequent + smaller injections, you'd get a more long-lasting and aesthetic result.
This wisdom can be carried over to any filler really:
Hyaluronic Acid (
HA),
Ellanse,
PMMA, and so on. I have no doubt (and this has been reflected by Doctors to me personally) that taking the approach of smaller volumes injected over multiple rounds proves to be the best method for a natural, quality end-result.
The only downside I see is logistics (and this wouldn't apply to everyone). If you have the flexibility to do 3 syringes every month versus 10 syringes in one-go, awesome. I can see how some guys may not have that luxury. The upside is what I just explained previously above.
