I added him largely due to his Plastic Surgery background, specifically lengthening and scrotal work which is hardly advertised here. Yes, he has admittedly offered silicone as one of many filler options, probably due to the fact that he uses it in other areas in both men & women.
He insists that the use of silicone filler (if medical grade) can work as good as any other, and he believes most complications stem from poor product quality and/or poor injection technique. I strongly disagreed with this assertion based on what I've seen & read over the years, and even if he was right somehow/someway, I couldn't condone silicone
Phalloplasty in good faith. So I considered if a compromise was achievable. After cordial dialog and some negotiation, I determined he could Sponsor here but that he
would not advertise silicone on the PhalloBoards.
I was willing to make this exception for three reasons: (1) firstly, what I mentioned in my first sentence about the variety of
Male Enhancement services he provides which isn't the case for many of the other Sponsors (who often do
Girth enhancement alone). Being a Plastic Surgeon permits him to perform a wider range of procedures for my readership and I believed this benefit outweighed the fact that he "offered silicone as one of many options for
Girth." He provides virtually
every cosmetic penile & scrotal enhancement under the sun.
(2) given that he performs a wide array of men & women procedures, it isn't unusual for him to have silicone filler around, especially since medical-grade silicone (e.g. like Silikon1000) is FDA approved. This is unlike, say Dr. Loria, who was a Hair Restoration Specialist who jumped into
Phalloplasty, claimed his silicone concoction had
PMMA in it (a falsehood), and wouldn't be qualified to resolve complications surgically if they should arise. In other words, Dr.
Liu stocking and employing silicone in his practice isn't an offense in it of itself, and many Clinics use silicone in a multitude of medical applications -- my exception happens to be the penis.
And (3) He offers
Hyaluronic Acid (
HA) and
PMMA (
Bellafill) as options, and the only ones he can advertise here. To be quite frank, and this is not an affront to Dr.
Liu, but I would insist on
HA or
PMMA (or Fat even) if that's what you're intent on getting.
I've actively black-listed and/or turned down other Clinics in the past. Please understand the decision to approve a practitioner who offers silicone
Phalloplasty was not an easy decision, especially given my stance on the subject matter. In the end, I felt that the compromise we made was fair, and that it ultimately served my end-goal:
expanding competitive options and procedure types to my readership. Healthy competition breeds innovation, better value, and regional accessibility.
