ELLANSÉ® QUESTIONS TO FORUM MEMBERS
  • Can someone tell me how many years the Ellanse Fillers have actually been used for? My research shows it's only been used for "over 5 years", perhaps they didn't update the information? Ellanse source link
  • Has anyone in the forums had Ellanse for more than 5 years? If so, when did you need a top up and can you give some details of the before & after?
  • We heard that Ellanse can last longer than 4 years. As it breaks down, does the penis shaft become lumpy and uneven?
    Dr Oates source link
  • Ellanse contains 30% Polycaprolactone (PCL), could it be assumed that this isn't breaking down properly and is causing lumps?
  • If Ellanse becomes lumpy & uneven at the end of the 4 year period, how will injecting more filler resolve this?
  • Ellanse advises "It is not advised for you to do any further massage to the treated area", does anyone know why that is?

WHAT ARE ELLANSÉ® FILLERS MADE OF?
"Ellansé is composed of microspheres suspended in a carrier gel, the gel consists of Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and the microspheres PolyCaproLactone (PCL). The PCL microsphere is a dense round particle. The CMC is a gel carrier for the PCL, made from non-animal, human or bacterial sources.
The chain length of the PCL attribute to the longevity of Ellansé results. This varying length of the PCL makes it possible to ‘tune’ the duration of the treatment."

70% Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carboxymethyl_cellulose
30% Polycaprolactone (PCL): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycaprolactone
"...In particular it is especially interesting for the preparation of long term implantable devices, owing to its degradation which is even slower than that of polylactide.
PCL has been widely used in long-term implants and controlled drug release applications. However, when it comes to tissue engineering, PCL suffers from some shortcomings such as slow degradation rate, poor mechanical properties, and low cell adhesion. The incorporation of calcium phosphate-based ceramics and bioactive glasses into PCL has yielded a class of hybrid biomaterials with remarkably improved mechanical properties, controllable degradation rates, and enhanced bioactivity that are suitable for bone tissue engineering.

I'll try to call Ellanse General Enquiries next week to ask some questions about this and then try to keep the opening post updated accordingly.
I really have hopes for Ellanse, but after hearing what Dr Oats said, I'm leaning towards Hyaluronic Acid fillers until I know more.

User-generated content is often times the best content since it starts from a place of sincere curiosity. I'm in the midst of constructing my own general wiki for all matters phalloplasty (including Ellanse), but this can be just as useful.

Most of my Sponsors have or do offer Ellanse, I'll see if I can get them to chime in with their professional opinions. I implore former Ellanse patients to do the same :)

Hi Liberati, I was trying to make my answers look different to what I was commenting on but could not change to italics, bold, or indent....

Ellanse has been approved in Europe for over 10 yrs now and I think 8 in Australia.

Has anyone in the forums had Ellanse for more than 5 years? If so, when did you need a top up and can you give some details of the before & after?

I dont think anyone has had it longer than Subtle77, on this forum. I had patient I used on his face come and see me every year up to 5 yrs post injection and it still looked the same as when it went in. Even Sinclair has stopped making the 4 yr version, maybe because it just isn't necessary. I posted in a thread on the 2 yr version lasting 4 yrs.

We heard that Ellanse can last longer than 4 years. As it breaks down, does the penis shaft become lumpy and uneven?

It is not the product that gives the volume it is the collagen. the breakdown of the product is expected not a problem.

Ellanse contains 30% Polycaprolactone (PCL), could it be assumed that this isn't breaking down properly and is causing lumps?

It is breaking down properly, that is what is supposed to happen.

If Ellanse becomes lumpy & uneven at the end of the 4 year period, how will injecting more filler resolve this?
