I think the squishyness aspect of HA has been overblown a little.
Although I would say that patients should limit the gain to about 1 inch with Hyaluronic acid.
Beyond about a 1-inch gain with HA some patients ( perhaps 1/3 ) will find that the decrease in erection hardness is bothering them and they will need to move over to Ellanse.
A few of our patients have gains of 2 inches or more with HA and report that it still feels hard (generally Voluma and Ultra Deep).
A harder HA will tend to support a thicker layer (bigger gain) than a softer HA.

Filler Firmness
I feel that most patients should first use Hyaluronic acid anyway, even if only 6 or 8 ml, before considering using Ellanse.
This way they get a little practice moulding, and we find out (with a reversible substance) whether there are any aspects of their anatomy which make them bad candidates generally for dermal filler, such as tight circumferential bands running along the shaft, pockets of loose tissue which filler is prone to migrate into.
