I went to a Urologist today for the first time in Brooklyn New York in Maimonides. I was diagnosed today with ED. I told him that I can’t keep my Erection when I’m standing. And based o that information he said I have ED. Me personally this Urologist didn’t really impress me. He said I should come back next week for a testosterone exam, and he said there’s no point of doing a Venous Leak exam because ED treatment is the same. The people on PhalloBoards impress me more they give me hope ! I’m really upset and devastated. I am really considering to go see dr Solomon in Pa because I’m only an hour away. Even tho my insurance won’t cover I would pay out of pocket for the great reviews I heard on PhalloBoards from this guy. I hope I overcome this .

He recommended skin grafting . I dont know why. I think he’s uneducated. Because I remember reading along time ago that skin grafting on the penis is really bad outcome

It's actually pretty normal to lose your Erection when standing, once you reach a certain age. I think I was in my mid 30's when I noticed it and asked around with my mates and found I wasn't alone.

I can't understand why a skin graft would help with ED! Don't even consider that.

Dr Solomon is a plastic surgeon, not a Urologist. You need to find a good Urologist, local to you.

But, personally, I wouldn't lose any sleep over this. Viagra is really popular for a reason! If hundreds of millions of guys weren't having some kind of Erection issue's, that didn't require surgery, then Viagra wouldn't be sold so much. But the fact is, prior to the patent running out, Pfizer were making between $1.5 to $2 billion ever year from Viagra alone. And that doesn't take into account that a lot of men use other ED drugs and many were also buying generic stuff off the internet. So that should tell you just how common issue's like yours are.

Get some Viagra or Cialis. Have some blood work done, to check your levels (not just test).

But I don't think you should consider any kind of surgery for an issue like that. Even if Viagra etc or Testosterone therapy don't work. In my opinion it's not worth surgery for erectile issue's that only occur when standing.

But I am 24 years old. How can a young 24 year old live off “tadalafill” (a generic Name for Cialis). And I’ve always had this issue by the way. He gave me a prescription of 20mg and he said take half a pill and see if it works. I am from NYC and New Jersey , it’s very hard to find a “good Urologist” that’s specialized in men’s health . Would you recommend anyone near my area ? I don’t mind driving.

Dr Solomon isn’t a Urologist correct. But I’m sure he’s got a Specialized Urologist in his office with all the experience he has Don’t you think ?

Unless you have a hormone imbalance, there is not going to be anything better than Cialis/viagra. I'd also try vacuum pumping.

I'm from the UK, so I'm not familiar with any urologists in your area. But, NY/NJ is the most densely populated area in America. There must be someone you can see there. Going to Philly for mild ED is ridiculous in my opinion. There are literally millions of men in your area that suffer from ED and don't need to travel out of town to find the right care.

Your right. I will go for a second opinion that has good reviews. This guy made me feel uncomfortable he was telling me there is no cure for ED he made me feel miserable like I had no options. I wonder if anyone here recovered from ED and what steps did he do and how long did it take.

Well that's unfortunatelly true. There's no actual cure for ED. As well as there's no cure for Peyronie's or there's no effective methods for penile lengthening. You have to chose between "shit options" like having a surgery with low success rate (not recommended by AUA) or taking a PDE-5 inhibitors for the rest of your life (viagra, Cialis, etc.) or having a penile implant surgery as a permanent solution. Actually the "gold standard" for ED is IPP. Every respectable surgeon in the World will confirm that. As for reputable phycisians in your or near area: Dr. Eid and Dr. Valenzuela in NYC, Dr. Kramer and Dr. A.Weinberg in Maryland, Dr. L.Levine in Chicago.

I don't know if describing PDE5's as a "shit option" is particularly accurate. I get they have their downsides and it's frustrating when one has a medical condition that there isn't a simple, one time, cure for. But when you look at all the conditions we can have in life and treatment options for those conditions, taking a pill every now and again, has to be considered a very nice resolution. I take viagra all the time and it doesn't bother me one bit. Let's be honest, it's one of the most frequently abused drugs going. Virtually everyone I know takes it. Once you've tried it, it's tough to go back to having sex without it. In fact, it often leads to men looking for more chemical ways to enhance their sex life. Once you've found one way of "cheating" you start looking for more ways! I get pretty bad sides from it, but still take, though I don't need to. I can have sex without it, it's not like I have bad ED. But a viagra Erection is just so much better, it's like I'm a 16 year old kid again, looking at photos of Carmen Electra, in FHM.

So, I'm not saying it's ideal, but if you've got a problem that is really bothering you and the Dr says it can be cured by taking a pill every now and again (or daily if you like with Cialis), then it's got to be considered a pretty damn good result. If I could cure my sciatica with a pill like Cialis (ironically it makes sciatica worse!) then I'd be delighted.

Pumping and Cialis combined is a fantastic option. Often guys don't like the thought of pumping, but once they try it, often they become addicted.

@ Johnny1220, I would start with just 2.5 mg of Cialis daily and try a light pumping regime. Over time build up to 30 mins of pumping per day. That doesn't mean you have to pump for 30 mins per day for the rest of your life. Once you've done it for a month or so, you can drop back and do it less frequently. But at first, I think it's important to stick with it consistently, so that you can see just how effective pumping is and this will give you real confidence and ease your mind.

I promise you if you get a pump and follow this routine for for 6 weeks, along with taking a small dose of Cialis, then this issue will largely be behind you and you can move on.

Week 1 - Pump at -2-3 hg for 10 mins
Week 2 - Pump at -2-3 hg for 2 sets of 10 mins, with a 2-3 min break between sets
Weeks 3-6 Pump at -2-3 hg for 3 sets of 10 mins, with a 2-3 min break between sets

If you aren't experiencing any sides from the Cialis and it's not been that effective then you can up the dose to 5mg. With the pumping, if you aren't seeing any change after a month and haven't noticed any negative indicators, such a red dots etc, then you can up the pressure a bit, but I never really think you need to go above -5hg.

Most of the time, ED at your age has a psychological origin rather than an anatomical one. Stress, anxiety, tiredness can be the underlying causes of your issues. It has happened to many of us.
Another reason could be the physical inactivity.

What Hoddle suggested you to do is totally reasonable, we are so lucky to live in a world where PDE-5 inhibitors are avaible. Just few decades ago if your penis didn’t want to get up, you were pretty much done with penetrative sex. Today my guess is that A LOT of people use them, especially in the hook-up scene. Going in with certainity that “it” will be hard and ready is a huge boost of confidence.

To conclude, there is nothing wrong in trying some low dosage Cialis. It will help you gain back your confidence and then you can get off of it once things are back to normality for you.
At the same time, you can look into some work out and stretching that helps with your pelvic floor health.

I agree with Hoddle. General medical check up is useful. In guys over 40yo or with a strong family history then checking out cardiac risk factors are important. Sometimes testosterone is useful but a mega high T level is not the answer. Most guys dont think of better diet, drink less, exercise more (weights increase you GH and T), get fit and get more sleep.

Then if Hoddles program has not helped then consider Low Intensity Shock Wave Therapy. It releases Nitric Oxide opening up blood vessels. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) might be useful. We do it and guys report good results but who knows if it is just a strong placebo effect? There is little scientific study to back it up. Although apparently the Uni of Miami is going to do a trial (call up and see if you can get in on it!).

Can smoking a vape affect potency?

I don't think that vaping can harm potency. Many factors affect potencies, such as diet, lifestyle, bad habits, and age.

Yes, many factors affect potency, but definitely smoking is a habit that has a negative effect. It should not cause erectile dysfunction alone, but it is for sure a contributing factor.
